Pocket Express Adds Essential Travel Info
Last update:  12-31-1969

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Aug. 13, 2007 — Handmark®, a global leader in mobile media, announced a free upgrade to the company’s popular Pocket Express™ wireless information service. Versions of the Pocket Express services have been installed on millions of handsets.

While there are dozens of enhancements throughout the Pocket Express experience, Handmark is focusing attention on the addition of a new travel channel. The new travel features include free access to schedules for more than 75,000 departures from 3,500 airports around the world. The flight data is licensed from OAG® – Official Airlines Guide and is considered the most reliable in the travel industry. Updated flight status with on-time or delay times, gate, and terminal details are included free for two weeks and are bundled in the paid subscription to Pocket Express.

Other free services include one-touch-to-dial frequent travel numbers, global hotel search and reservations, round-the-clock access to a travel agency, automatic conversions for 164 world currencies, and detailed weather for every destination.

The upgrade is available now free to Pocket Express subscribers on BlackBerry, Treo, and other Windows Mobile handsets. Updates for other platforms, including a new version for Symbian S60 will be available in October.

Pocket Express already provides customers a full complement of world news and entertainment, detailed sports coverage and complete marine weather forecasts and ski resort conditions from respected sources including the Associated Press and STATS LLC. The new Pocket Express travel channel expands a comprehensive suite of information services. All of the travel services include:

OAG Flight Status — Check to see if your flight is on time with the latest arrival and departure information including time, terminal, gate and baggage claim details.

OAG Flight Schedules — Reschedule or check on flight times with fingertip access to regularly updated information for 3,500 airports and more than 75,000 daily flights worldwide.

Hotel Search — Easily search for and reserve business and vacation accommodations by ratings, prices, amenities and availability. Powered by Hotels.com.

Travel Phone Numbers — Access all the phone numbers you need on the road but can never seem to find, including numbers for airlines, hotels, car rental and travel agencies, and cruise lines.

Currency Conversion — Get updated currency conversion information for more than 164 global currencies, including U.S. dollars, Euros, British pounds, Yuan and more.

24/7 Travel Reservations - Speak to a live travel agent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world to book travel, a rental car or hotel accomodations.

Although many of Pocket Express services are free to anyone who installs the new version, Handmark offers an “elite” subscription for $9.99 per month that includes expanded information and search features together with a 24-hour global concierge service. The MobileCierge service is accessed with a one-tap-to-call from the “Assist” PageOne tile in Pocket Express.

“In today’s stressful travel environment late or cancelled flights can mean the difference between getting to an important meeting or wasting hours at the airport. Mobile professionals need their mobile devices to deliver the critical updates and the ability to make on-the-go changes to travel plans,” said Douglas Edwards, Handmark co-founder and chief marketing officer. “The new travel features of Pocket Express put essential details upfront for the travel weary the road warrior. It’s never been easier to confirm flight status, locate the nearest hotel, contact a car rental service and even convert to the local currency – everything you need to ensure a safe, successful and productive trip is now in Pocket Express.”
