  Group Sense Xplore M68 Review
Last update:  07-13-2005

Submitted by Reggie

Known as Hagenuk S200 Smartphone in Germany, the GSM/GPRS Group Sense PDA Xplore M68 runs Palm OS Garnet (5.4) using a TI ARM 9 OMAP 310 144MHz processor. It gives the user 32MB of usable SDRAM while the 64 MB Flash is used for applications that come pre-installed. It sports a 160x220 2.2-inch 65K-color touchscreen, a 1.3 megapixel camera, an SD slot, IR, and Bluetooth. It can record voice and video, play MP3, MPEG-1, MPEG-4, and 3GPP, and support Java games. Talk time is 5 hours with a standby time of 300 hours. While there is no price yet set for the US, it sells for 499 EUR in the UK.

Nexave has released a great review of the Group Sense PDA Xplore M68 (translated):

"The S200 is a mature, successful equipment. Many prospective customers will be happy with this small Palm OS device with great features (OS5, camera, Bluetooth). It is a handy Smartphone with a great set of applications with good speed. There are no major flaws considering its size. The price of the S200 is right."

PROS:

  • good keys and 5-way-navigator
  • small size and weight
  • good hardware design (position of headset, keys, SD slot, etc.)
  • good display
  • great set of pre-installed applications
  • voice quality
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • good running time
  • LED, vibration alarm, and voice recording

CONS:

  • minor display design flaws
  • bad on-hand operation
  • no T9
