Question About the T|X

I wonder if there's any serious bugs/cons in that device, and if the display is better than the E2's or at least equivalent. Plus, is there any prediction that its price might go down soon?

Thanks a lot

There are some bugs in everything.

Display is awesome

The thing was just released. You can search for coupons and such, but it will be a while before Palm lowers the price anytime soon!

You're joking, right? The display is an old fashioned Sharp screen, with terrible contrast, viewing angles, and color accuracy. If you want to view photographs on it, you might have to edit all your pictures on photoshop to make up for the lack of green.

The E2's screen is clearly better. The Tx's screen is like the LD's, i.e. yucky milky white. The early T3's Sony screens were so much better. Too bad Sony is now out of the market.

I am a bit confused. Some people say display is very good but some say its terrible. As far as I can see from the photos, Palm's HiRes+ screens all have a blueish color, but is it really that bad? I was hoping to buy a TX to read documents and to watch videos.

Reading PDA forums made me believe that PDAs are "doomed" (and I hate PDA Phones).

I've heard the same thing too. It's said E2's display has the best saturation and clarity ever (at least for a Palm). But I was just asking, is the TX's good enough to view photos? I was originally going for the E2, but its price hasn't dropped yet in Dubai (still sold for $250)-- so I thought I'd push some extra bucks, and get a better device.

The TX 's screen is really bad for viewing photos, since it is lacking green.

You can just add green in a photo editing software, and they will look perfect, BTW. You could just baych process all the photos you are carrying on it.

Palms used to have much superior SONY screens in them. Too bad they are using Sharp now. Makes for such cheap looking devices. Hey! Palm is targetting the cheap PDA market now, so it makes sense I guess.

Then why do you think the E2 has a better display?

As has been true for the past few devices (from the T2 onwards I think) I suspect Palm are using several different screen suppliers. This seesm to be the only explanation for the different opionions of screen quality on the TX, TE2 and LD.....just my $0.02

Smile

I enjoy viewing photographs on my TX.

I suppose screen quality, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I have never seen a TE2 screen with photos, so I cannot comment.

I do know that photos look much better on my TX screen than they did on the T3 screen.

In other words, it may be better than my specific screen on my T3 but not as good as the screen on a TE2.

It is best to judge for yourself and take our opinions as just that - opinions.

Cheers!

Greg

I agree with you... but well,... I have some problems with green and red

just did some quick fotos and only reduced size without contrast- and saturation customizings.

I just bought a TX for 260 including the shipping. It was a good enough discount for me. I used to search for the lowest price.pricegrabber.com

Good Luck

I agree, the TX isn't that good for photos/movies. The display has a blueish tint to it. Its bright, I'll give the TX that, but the color quality is dull >_<

I wonder what site you ordered from. Since you're from Portugal (as your info says), the site must have had international shipping. I live in Dubai. Here the prices are too high. For instance, the E2 still costs $249 at all stores.

2XS,

What's wrong with the photos? Is the orange color supposed to be red?

I had the unit shipped to a friend in the States and they will ship it to me. That is how I usually buy electronics. I am from the US and all my family still lives there.

Wish I had better help for you. I bought it from eBuyer. They sell to england but I don't know about the rest of the world. Sorry no suggestions for Dubai.
