| >2gb SD card? I remember that my NX-73 has a limit on the MS/CF size to 2gb because of the FAT (12 maybe) that it implemented...
People said that Palm had to rewrite the driver for bigger sticks
Since the LifeDrive has 4gb (basically a CF card), is this limit now gone?
How about for the T/X (T/X + 4gb is not much more money than LD, and a lot lighter)

| There is still a 2gb limit on the Palm OS. The LifeDrive has special drivers that allows it to operate with more than that. I remember when the 4gb memory sticks were introduced, someone took the LifeDrive drivers and put them on a Clie and tweaked the settings till they somewhat worked. There were some limitations on what could be done with it. So unless Palm does something with the OS, there won't be any official support for >2gb memory on any devices other than the LifeDrive.

| Yeah, and that really sucks! I just don't understand why they won't implement FAT32 as part of PalmOS natively!!
There is NO reason at all for not implementing it! |

| I happened to have a 4GB Transend SD card and it works with the T|X. The device recognizes it as 3.7G in Info. CardInfo shows 3813.4 MB.
The only problem I see so far is some programs show a negative number in the capacity. Purely cosmetic to me. |

| That's great. Maybe they added that feature to the TX. That would be a wonderful undocumented feature. How much did you pay for 4gb SD card?

| About US$290. Got it a month back and was going to use in my digital cam (which I found out it doesn't support.) Gladed the T|X can use it so I didn't have to return it. |

| A test that I did with the T3, because it would see the 2G card...
Fill the card to about 90% in a card reader, then write 1 more file to it... try to manipulate this file in the TX (read/write) It should be around the 3.5GB area on the card. This will validate that the TX can access it, not just correctly identify the card.
Again, the T3 would identify the 2G card, but only read/write below the 1.5G area. |

| OK. Filled the card to 3753.9 MB with only 59.5 MB free with .mpg files. All of them can be play with mmplayer. I would say it passes the test/validation. |

| That is truly great news. Did you try to delete the last file that was added to the card as well? I know, I know, nit picking, but hey...
So I was curious, I asked Canon about the SD slot in my new camera. Turns out it will do FAT32 or FAT16, and works with up to 2048GB. When I first read that I read it at 2G, not 2TB Imagine a Palm with 2TB of data available.... |

| Yes, deleted 4 files (250 MB each, new & old) and added back couple other files (150 MB each). No problem. I think the driver is there. Not sure about 2TB though... Guess we will see when the 2TB SD comes out |
