I'm still downloading the podcast right now, but from the show notes: I think that the company that built Fitaly screwed up some place when they developed it. They're the only company I know of whose product is screwed up with every new device; other products like mySkin and MessagEase that change the DIA are not.

They accuse Palm of "Software Incompetence" on their site, but I'm thinking that they're the incompetent ones.

EnsRegis you bring up a really good point. I've noticed that there isn't much is the way of growing pains getting MyDIA to work on newer devices (I don't use MessageEase.) Isn't that an interesting turn of events?

I guess this reminds me of the old ballads out in the west about the old soldier. To paraphrase one such person, after many podcasts and editorals I now close the books and end my time and history into another phase. And to quote the old ballad old soldiers never die they just fade away. The same with old podcasters they never retire they just fade away.

Why Does Palm Disappoint?

I think Palm is trying to make a Sidekick-like phone (not form-factor but software wise). The Sidekick only allowed you to download software off of their servers for high prices. This is not a smart idea for I left the Sidekick for this reason.

Enjoy your hiatus and hope to hear your podcasts Alan.

That would be your friendly neighborhood Tech Talk podcaster, Alan Grassia. I also found out after last night's podcast who will be filling in on the 1SRC Editorial and I think that you will be pleased with the choice.

The DIA area should be open for any graphical input that folks want to use.
An open, universal attitude towards this stuff would have avoided these hassles from the start.
G1/G2/Fitaly shouldn't even be an issue!
Use what input style works for you and you will be more likely to use the device. -duh?
Hello, Palm? Accessability?

Jeff, I will miss your editorials and podcasts.
Don't dissapear entirely. That would be dumber.
Follow what brings you joy, and be happy.

Alan, I look forward to hearing your views on 1SRC, just as I enjoyed hearing you on The Tech Talk podcast. Welcome aboard as moderator!

Xerox decided to make Graffiti 1 an issue, but I agree with you. You would think that accessability to imput methods would be a little bit easier. One of the things that I found interesting about the Pocket PC is the ability to use multiple input options. I have to admit I really didn't think about it until Jeff mentioned it in the podcast, but it is true. Pocket PC allows you to have multiple input options. Some offered by Microsoft, and others from third-parties. Maybe Palm should adopt that system for Palm OS.

If you've listened to my Tech Talk podcast or some of the other 1SRC podcasts I was a guest on, you'll have a good idea of how I'm going to run the show for now.

Jeff, I haven't listened to the podcast yet but I gather you'll be spending more time authoring. This is great news as I am waiting for the next chapter of "First Contact"!
