| Basic help needed: connecting to wireless LAN I have been reading with interest and inspiration the posts in this forum. I have a Ux50 and it has been connected to my MAC G5, waiting for me to see its utility and ability to work! I have been unable to get it to connect to my wireless LAN, and figure out how to put in the password that is in my wireless set-up at home. Once outside, it will connect in free hotspots, but then NetFront 3.0 won't download websites. Also, I'm not sure about how to upgrade the web-browser, I downloaded the VZ Netfront 3.3 (whatever VZ means), but was unable to put it in the exact place (on the media stick?) to launch it. Next up, a Bluetooth phone and syncing with it. First things first.
Obviously, I'm dangerous - I know enough to screw things up, but am determined to get my lovely gadget working. My husband thinks I should sell it, but I'm not willing to - yet. Help me get up and running and become the Clie-master (mistress!) that you all are! THANKS! |

| Seems that you did manage to view pages on your own WIFI network?
From my experience, there are some APs outside that allow you to connect but don't give you access to the web. You've just have to try. I always connect with the SSID "Any", without any farther settings(be sure not to set any proxies in Netfront) it usually works.
As for the VZ Netfront, "VZ" means "Clie VZ-90" which is the last Clie model, so it should have the latest version of Netfront. If you're planning to launch it from your memory stick, put it under /palm/launcher/. If you want to keep it in your RAM, put it any where(but the root directory, to avoid some possible problems) on your memory stick, and cut it over to your device in Clie files. But be careful if you want to launch it from your memory stick. If you run an old version of Netfront after you run the new version, all your netfront settings except your bookmarks will be gone. Running a new version after runn the new one has the same effect. Just stick with the new version and you'll be fine. This problem does not occure if you put the new one on to RAM, since the old one will be hidden by the new one. |

| Still workin on it Thanks for the help. I have been more successful getting connected with wifi, but once on the web, re-directs often crash Netfront. EX. I get into google, and type in search, the pages come up and then going to the next page crashes the pda. I have web-based email in 2 places and it happens on both of those. Is this a Netfront issue? or something else?
Also haven't had any luck moving Netfront 3.3 from memory stick to other places in the CLie. It either won't launch telling me I don't have enough space to launch the browser or not enough space in RAM. How can that be? This is the first extra app I've put on this pda... What am I missing?
Thanks for the help! |

| Dogged and determined Sorry to be so lame with this. But, I am begining to get frustrated. I was successful in loading both Bejeweled and Acid Solitaire onto the Clie. Have also loaded Netfront 3.1 BUT! It continually tells me that the application can't be launched because of a system error. Not sure where to go with this!
Perhaps I'm trying too hard, but would love to not give up.
Also trying to find AppShelf. Didn't see it on here or sonyclie.org, or pdatopsoft.com
Any idea on where I can find it?
Once I get this going, I'd like to use snappermail and sync it with a new bluetooth phone. I've been reading all the emails in the forum - there's tons of great info in here, and I'm desperately trying to catch up! Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
