 | How do you cope with no UP/DOWN buttons on the front ?
"Sidegrading" from a T3 to a TH55, I get a hard time with the fact that I have no up/down buttons on the front of the unit.
When my TH55 is lying on the table, I have no way to scroll up and down apart from taking it my hand. It gets annoying cause I'd like to let the unit firmly "seated" on the table instead.
I'm thinking of maybe a way to assign "temporarily" the two middle buttons to up and down... What are your experiences on the matter? Should I just give up and switch back to my T3?
I don't think I'll ever get used to take the TH55 in my hands just for a scroll and the tiny scroll bars on the screen are hard to activate with just a finger...
Any insight would be appreciated!

| I was going to ask how you guys cope with needing two-hands for that buttons-on-the-front interface! 
I use the scroll wheel for up and down. It does take a little getting used to, but you make the best use of your hand with the TH55's design, and after a bit it's quite natural. (Not for gaming however.)
Yep, it's the old "hold and scroll"!

| I must admit that when I first got my TH55 (NX80V prior device), I held it, looked at and felt the scroll wheel and up/down buttons, and thought, "I'm not going to like this." But now I wouldn't have it any other way. They are in the perfect place, unless you like to have it lying flat on the table and operate it with no hands!

| Yeah, I have days like that. The TH55 is designed to be held, or mounted in a cradle. It's not good on its back.
However, there is a Silk Plugin called SilkLauncher which you can assign soft Up/Down buttons to. That's what I usually do when I need that functionality (But this is rare for me...).
I really wish I had the source-code to SilkLauncher; It's a really cool Silk Plugin...
(Hell, I wish I had the SDK for Silk Plugins! They're really cool apps - Another innovation Sony made that Palm really should have done too...) | |

| Well to be fair, this is more a diagonal-grade 
A TH55 is a lot more functional than a T|3, but you do loose the 5-way, the gigantic RAM and ludicrous CPU 
But OTOH you gain a working digitiser, better connectivity, functionality, and ludicrous battery life | |

| Good Evening-
As someone who owns both the TH and the T3, I feel that the TH is at least half-again a better machine. I cannot think of an instance when I lay my handheld down on a flat surface to operate it. The TH55 is operable one-handed for almost every use, which leaves my other hand free to write, keyboard, or gesture (dramatically or offensively).
I have moth-balled my T3 due to the sad battery life, buzzing screen, lack of jog-dial, irritation with the slider, omission of a camera, lack of built-in WiFi or screen protection (flip cover on the TH is so nice) and poor battery life (I know I said that twice).

I would use my Laptop for that. Much bigger screen and plenty of buttons to poke on.

| The problem with having a handheld lie on a table is that the screen has a limited viewing angle and that the colors change IMHO. I never ever operated any of my handhelds laying on a table(prolly comes from old IIIc days, as colors reallc changed with view angle). | |

| The only time I want to use my handheld flat on a table is at breakfast/lunch time to read offline web pages with Plucker.
I am now getting used to take the handheld in my hand, and use the jog dial.
Off Topic: I took my Th55 in bright sunlight today and was amazed at how the screen was readable outside. My former T3 was useless in such conditions... | |

| I don't use this function, but the excellent utility Okey will put a Scroll Up/Scroll Down button on the status bar. Check it out @: http://www.geocities.com/nagamatu/OKey/index-e.htm
Combined with T-Suite, I can almost use my clie most of the time without a stylus.
