| Hey Joe I just realized that on page one of this post you had asked me about videos..most of mine were taken from Kazaa and are in MPEG format. then for settings I simply used
10 frames
240*180
480kbps
Clie audio stereo at 33mhz
most of the videos are sort of big..like 9-13mb per video but I dont mind so much..i could drop the picture size if I needed to stick a lot more vids into my MS but then id be squinting..
Vids I've gotten so far ( I study jazz/funk/hip hop dance so my vids are related to this)..i just really started this converting thing this past thurs. so im sure i'll be converting more soon
Aaliyah - "More than a Woman"
Alicia Keys - "Girlfriend"
Busta Rhymes "Woohah, Got you all in Check"
Christina Aguilera - "Dirty"
Donell Jones - "You know that I Love you"
Eve - "Satisfaction"
Janet Jackson - "All for you"
Jay-Z & Beyonce "Bonnie and Clyde"
Justin Timberlake - "Like I love you"
Missy Elliot - "Gossip Folks"
Nelly Furtado - "Turn off the Light"
Nivea & Jagged Edge - "Dont mess w/ my man/girl"
OutKast - "Fresh and so Clean"
Samantha Mumba - "Baby come over tonight"
Sean Paul - "Gimme the light"
TLC - "Girl Talk"
Toya - "I Do"
Usher - "You Dont have to call"
I dont know if this is up your alley but it is for me...buzz me on a PM if youd further wish to talk about it.

Geekgod, I am aware of the 1Gb file limit that cripples many programs, but have not run into this problem with Kinoma - I just finished converting Toy Story 2 from a 1.5Gb AVI file (encoded in VP3 with PCM sound). What is your experience here? |
Hmmm... Kinoma used to stop encoding at the 1GB limit, so you only got a partial file. I wonder if they fixed that? I'll have to take a look at that again...
Have you tried playing your movie all the way through to see if it's all there?

| Hi @all,
I tried a lot of apps the last time and figured out the following, which is ok for me (Mac OS 10.2.3):
I don´t want to see 320x240 pixel movies, I want to watch at 320x480
I have a lot of AVI´s here which run with QT6 Pro, unfortunately without audio, but there is a trick, I tried it with SHREK:
Download DivX Tools here http://www21.brinkster.com/collectivesw/guides.html
Load your AVI into DivX Tools an extract the Sound as MP3 (very easy). Load the MP3 in QT and copy it. Open the AVI and paste the MP3 (scaled). Save it as a standalone movie. Choose a part of the movie around 350 MB (not bigger!!!). Copy and open a new window in QT. Paste it and save it again as a standalone. Open this movie in Kinoma, 10 frames, 320 x 480, 160kBit, Yamaha ADPCM and convert it. You´ll get a film about 110 MB, ok, you have two parts BUT WIDESCREEN

Why use 240x180? The rez make almost no difference in the final file size, so bump it up to 320x240. It will only make your files slightly larger, but MUCh clearer.

| okay i have quicktime 5 pro for my PC..NOT A MAC...
this is important because it doenst seem to be able to regocnize a Divx movie.
At the Divx Site theres a codec for use with the MAC Os so that quicktime can play it. No dice for Windows based OS's to allow quicktime to play divx's....any suggestions?
PIVO - depends on your computer power and size of original clip..i got a 700mb mpeg file to about a 141mb .pdb file(gotta retool it so that its less than 128) in a few hours...I do it when I sleep normally. Let the "kinoma fairy" leave me a gift when I wake up
