I'm desperately trying to get my info off my m505 and either onto a PC (outlook or palm desktop, I'm not picky) or directly into my Samsung sph-i500 (Palm OS). The m505, when I plug the USB into our desktop, is totally unresponsive...or I should say the PC is unresponsive. I can't sync. I tried a different connection cable that I purchased, with a direct connection, and it did not work either...looks like the problem is in the m505, not the PC. I have NEVER had luck with IR syncing, and I'm pretty desperate to get the info off of the m505 onto my new phone. Can anyone help? Thanks!
Have no information on the PC you are using. What OS? Have you installed Palm Desktop on the computer? If WinXP, do you have Windows Administrator priveleges? When installed were all other applications turned off, especially Windows Firewall and antivirus? Are there any error messages? Are you using the USB slot that is connected to the motherboard?
You say you have problems with IR syncing. Have you tried beaming from the m505 to the Samsung? Is Samsung's Beam Receive set to on. Have you tried a soft reset on either device before beaming?
If I can avoid going to a PC, I'd prefer. The one I tried to sync with though was running XP Home. As I said, the computer did not recognize it at all...it just sat idle. Perhaps XP cannot recognize this older Palm device? I've tried beaming directly to the SPH-i500 by Samsung. Beam receive is on. I have my HotSync on the m505 set to "IR to a handheld/PC". I click HotSync, and the phone (i500) does not respond at all. As I said, I have had zero luck with IR syncing in the past. Any thoughts? Thanks!
