Hey people,

I just dicovered this. DVDx is a program that converts DVD's
to MPEG format.

whats so great about this? well it a very usefull utility that will
enable you to watch high quality movies, with amazing sound
conversions, On your NX.

Best of all it FREEWARE!

I just finished watching The Matrix on my clie! how cool is that!

All you need to do is Have your output frame rate at 23.976
and under Export Setings --> Resolution set it to 352x240

Simple as that!

I use SmartRipper, DVD2AVI,and TMPGEnc to rip my DVD's for the Clie.

What kind of time is it taking you for the rip to mpg?

I'm not sure. I left it on and went somewhere for a long while, but by the time i got back it was finished and i didnt check the
time.

What I like about it, is that i only need to use 2 simple
conversions: DVDx and then just Right clicking on the file to
send it to the Clie

I have heard of the programs you are talking about and, to be
honest with you, I was lazy to download the files plus it seemed
it would take too long to convert the file.

it takes me about an hour and a half to an hour and 45 min to convert the average movie. then i spend a few minutes cutting off things like the credits at the end etc... to shorten the movie of stuff i dont care to watch.

Thanks, im always interested in a faster way if there is one, although i have pretty much converted all the DVD's i have.

How big is your file on the MS?

i have one 128 meg and one 64 meg. I use the 64 for all my apps and the 128 for putting a movie on. I set image converter to low quality and the file is usualy 80-100 meg. I find that even at this quality the movies are still quite enjoyable for me. After all if i want super quality or to watch movies constantly i would get a portable dvd player. but this is perfect for boring trips, waiting in a doctors office, etc...

How do you right click and send to Clie? I right click the file and don't get an option to send to CLIE> I have tried to usethe picturegear lite that came with the clie but foundthat no sound and a lower rez had been transferred. WHAT AM I doning wrong...?

Are there any there settings? I have 37 seconds recorded and my file is 5mb!

I think I am missing something.

Resolution: 352x240

Output Frame Rate: 23.976 (NTSC) (am I missing anything?)

can someone give some more steps? I keep on getting an error, something like IFO file not found". Any help?

STEP1: INSTALL (duh)

ok for real now

STEP2: click on
Settings --> Input Settings.
(window pops up)

STEP3: There is a section on the mid-left side that says:
"Output Frame Rate:"

Using the drop down arrow select the "23.976 NTSC" Then Click
OK (window should close)

STEP4: click on
Settings --> Output Settings.
(Window pops up)

but before i go on i would like to say that i am not very knowlegeable about this i just learning myself but these are the steps I took which was suggested to me by shack072.

STEP2: click on
Settings --> Input Settings.
(new window opens)

STEP3: There is a section on the mid-left side that says:

Using the drop down arrow select the "23.976 NTSC" Then Click
OK (window closes)

STEP4: click on
Settings --> Output Settings.
(new window opens)

STEP5: on the top right hand corner you should find a box that
says: "Export Settings:"
change the current value (352x288) to 352x240

Click Apply (window closes)

STEP6:Go to
File --> Open DVD Root (new window opens)
then select your DVD Drive.
(new window opens: "Select Title")

STEP6: Select the one that says: TitleX Longest Prog: ####

then select the biggest one to Rip the whole movie or just select whichever one you like to rip only parts of the movie (Which, by the way, is really cool)

STEP7: go to
file --> select destination --> browse --> name the file "*.mpeg"
