| Do a warm reset (no pun intended)
Hold the button corresponding to scroll left, and push the reset button. Turn off of lightspeed in the reset mode, and reset again.

| Try plugging your CLIE in to charge, then doing a warm reset while charging.
Did you over overclock the damn thing?
It isn't good to let the battery run down.

| never overclock it. it screws up everything.
overclocking is only good for when you want to drain your battery (for reasons unknown).

| when i tried overclocking my TJ37, nothing ran any faster than the speed it usually ran. I even tried overclocking it to the max (233 MHz with Lightspeed) to see if MMPlayer could perform any better: it still stuttered on a 192 kbps bitrate video with 40 kbps bitrate audio

Hmm. I bought a very nice TJ37 on e-Bay and I notice the battery life is significantly less on this TJ37 than it was on my 415T. At first I attributed it to the fact that the 37 was more powerful and had more bells and whistles that consumed the battery power (e.g., MP3 player, Wi-Fi). Yet, even just reading ebooks, I find that the TJ37 drains the battery after just days, not a week as the 415.
Could the previous owner have overclocked it and not told me? Could this explain the runaway battery drainage? If so, can this be undone?

Well, after looking at the T415's specs., I came to the conclusion that the T415 battery lasts longer on a charge due to the fact that:
a. The T415 doesn't seem to have a constant backlight. I haven't found a picture of a T415 yet with the backlight on, though I read in a review that it was weak whereas the TJ37 has a backlight that is on constantly (unless you turn it off, but its hard to see).
b. The T415 uses a monochrome screen whereas the TJ37 has a 16k color screen.
c. The T415 operates on a modified Motorola VZ 33 MHz processor whereas the TJ37 runs on a 200 MHz Motorola i.MXL processor.
Try underclocking your eBook program or any processor-friendly program that you may have, some don't require the full 200 MHz to operate.

use warpSpeed - you can fine-tune the speed in much smaller increments and it will not lock up like this
