| LifeDrive Backup; any success We all seem to have been having degrees of success and failure with several backup programs for the LD. I thought I had some successful backups but I needed to restore after a hard reset at work today and the silly thing reset durring the restore.
Has anyone had a successful backup restored? |

| l found that mega commander, or mega com. works good! no reset.
lt has a backup center and restore, l also use the comp. to make the file smaller. On restore
not one problem.
Have to say out of all the pda's including the T5, this LD is the best! |

| BackupMan 1.54 I have done two hard resets today and restored my LifeDrive 64meg application area using BackupMan 1.54 and it worked flawlessly every time.
Why did I hard reset two times.. well actually about five times today. I have been trying to find a bug hanging my alarm. I found it. Sad to say it is VersaMail. see other thread for more.

| Full Backup I did full restores. (Remember the 4gig drive is not restored just the apps in the 64meg application ram)

#8 | | Guest | Hi....
Is there any backup tools (either runs in Palm or Windows) which allows us to do complete backup of the apps in 64MB area and the 4GB LifeDrive drive section.
Last night I have a hard reset in which I lost all my data including the storage in the 4GB section. I read in PalmOne website the instruction for backing up LifeDrive in hxxp://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External20 01,case=obj(39791)
But it also require different steps to backup the Apps first, then the 4GB data area separately. Not too convinient according to me.
Any tips out there? Tks in advance. | |

| yes there is... http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External20 01,case=obj(39791)
If the above link works it will bring you to the PalmOne web site that tells you how to backup the 64megs of ram and the 4Gigs of harddrive ... you will have to right mouse click on the hotsync icon and choose custom, then, in that list look for LifeDrive manager... choose to change it and set to sync and backup... if you have a hard reset just change that setting to restore from backup... taadaa... done... but you should read the logic of all of this on the web site... | I've had good luck with TealBackup for backing up the LifeDrive main program/database partition to an SD card, although I haven't tried a full restore (can't really bring myself to go through that whole process...) I have had no crashes on either full or incremental backups, whether scheduled or manually activated. I also have had success with a few selective restores.
I also tried BackupBuddyVFS (which I've used on my past devices) and it caused soft reset crashes very regularly.

| TealBackup Thanks for the tip on TealBackup, at least it backed up without a reset. Teal is the fifth backup program I have tried, and the first to backup up everything; now for the restore... |

Another vote for BackupMan. I haven't had a single problem with it. Resco Backup reset on me a few times and each time it did it messed up my saved preferences. I think I will buy BackupMan now. |

| I wish I wish I had your luck. TealBackup works when I run the backup manually. The scheduled backup causes a reset. I can live with that for now. |

| Do not realy use vmail Hi..
I really do not use vmail... my email addresses have so much spam comming to them that I only use vmail on my yahoo account, can you believe it gets no spam, and on my gmail account. I check all of my accounts so often on my pc that there is nothing for vmail to do.
Is there some specific problem that I could look for, vmail has never rebooted my LD.
Thanks, Van |
