address, how do I get past the 1st line of text that I inputted, without using the stylus?
| In adress ?
Ctrl +p = next field.
Ctrl + o (oscar) = previous field.
This is standard, look in : Ctrl + k.
Did I understand correctly your question ?
From DateBK to adress, it's quicker to create a shortcut to go to adress instead of clicking "new", scrolling "adress", pressing the jog .
You can use ctrl + number to do this, this is standard.

| Oui, that answered my question. I was just seeing if there was a way to do it in KQ. I had just figured out how to move the pink cursor around; but it only goes to the next function not to input fields.
Rereading your answer the way I meant it was that you were already in address and inputting a new contact <cntrl+n> creates new contact and then you begin inputting the new contact does that make sense? Cntrl+m I understand but in you screenshot there are 4 options that I don't see when I do it or are those application specific Apps, Tabs,Options,Device |

| When you get the pink cursor, press the hard key "m" -> blue pop-up with "extended mode".
After this, the pink cursor will go to many places. (thanks to Kallman).
For me, too many places. Quote: |

| Ok, I understand.
Apps, Tabs, Options, Device are sub-menu of the launcher (.Poneh launcher) you can see.
I think, it is Zlauncher or AppShelf ? |

| Tres' bien(very cool); the more I play with this program the better it gets.
There are a couple of apps that don't responed I can't seem to get it to work on its self but I'm sure I can figure that out. The side menu works on Media Launcher for the remote functions of Audio but not when your in the audio program; I can go to photo and music but not movies oh well. Still this a great program thanks again for making my UX even better.

For your screen shot, if you press the hard key "r" -> you get a soft reset! |
You can do this also if you press Ctrl+T to get the command bar at the bottom of the screen and press R. This way you don't have to use the arrows to go to the specific submenu.
If you memorise the shortcuts you see in the menus, e.g. to take the screen shot in the topic, you memorise L for backlight, E for Launcher prefs, Y for hotsync, etc. then all you do is press Ctrl+T and then the letter. You'll find these letters in most of the menus in your programs and if you learn them then you can get to the screens you want really quickly (without having to call the menu with Ctrl+M and then using the arrows and then pressing the letter; just Ctrl+T and then the letter).
For example to type a new task in Datebk5, press Ctrl+T and then T. Look around in your programs and learn the most important commands.
(The Ctrl+T to call the command bar can also be done with Graffiti, just strike a "/" in the graffiti area and then write the letter also in the graffiti area, so write /T to have a new task. Useful if you're in tablet mode.)
(Too bad there is no single key for / and you have to use Ctrl+M; if there were one then you just press this special button and then the letter, just like in windows when you press Control+S to save a document. In palm you need one more step, Ctrl+M and then the letter for the command you want... although you could use KQ to have the "-/?" to call the command bar, then you saved another step. [To have "-" from the "-/?" button, you can use Blue+C, as mentioned earlier by someone.])
Btw: this is all palm standard since OS 3.x for sure so sorry if it was obvious for everyone and that's why I didn't see that someone mentioned it (at least I don't remember this being mentioned)

| I use Hi-Launcher and stylus. I find using my keyboard only effective in writing something. I use Hi-Launcher to get to my apps, DAs, and even system functions such as Brightness, Backlight, Home, Off, Soft Reset. Whenever my system needs to Soft Reset, hold the Back button or tap the Home button, scroll/select DAs/System > System > Soft Reset. I love Hi-Launcher. I only use KeyQuick for the Audio Remote feature.

JAmerican, Ctrl+k and KQ are very useful for what you do. Believe me, it's worth the effort !

| I use those functions. Ctrl + C, Ctrl + X, etc. I just don't assign any to KeyQuick.

It's because of the French DateBk5. You will know what the exact letter for the specific command you want is when you go into the menus and look for what is next to the "/" sign. For example in my DateBk5 (English), in the Record submenu, "New Appointment... /N", so it's Ctrl+T and N; "New Journal Entry... /J" so it's Ctrl+T and then J; in Misc submenu "Convert Float <-> ToDo /5" so it's Ctrl+T and 5. You don't have to open the menu with Ctrl+M for this. Stay in the normal view of application (ie without opening the menu), call up the Command bar with Ctrl+T and press the letter corresponding the specific command. As said, the corresponding letters you need to find in the menus first and memorise them, but later on you don't need to open the menu.
This works in _all_ programs. I memorise the most important shortcut letters from the menus in most programs, so if you're in the Home screen, in the menus you'll see that "Delete... /D" so Ctrl+T and D will bring up the delete applications list, "Info... /I" so Ctrl+T and I brings up the Info list to view size, version, etc. of programs. In Palm Insider Pro's Options submenu "Preferences /E" so in the normal state of the application just press Ctrl+T and then E and you get the submenus.
1. This works in _all_ applications and _all_ commands in the menus if the programmer took the time to attach shortcuts to commands in menus*
2. To know exactly what the shortcuts are, go into any application you have and look in the menus. You'll see the commands in the menus and if you see "/" and a letter next to it, then you can call that command directly by pressing Ctrl+T and then the letter you saw in the menu. You need to memorise but a) many shortcuts are standard across applications, b) it improves you memory
3. This is Palm OS standard, no KQ required
4. KQ helps because
a) you don't have to press Ctrl+T simultaneously but you can first press Ctrl and then T
b) you can assign the command shortcut Ctrl+T to a button so you only press that button and you already have the command bar. So you can assign the Command bar in KQ to the "? -" button (next to A, above Shift) since the "-" you can also get with Blue+C (US keyboard) so you saved pressing Ctrl.
As you see, this is not about launching applications but working the the submenu items=commands within each application. Quote: | Originally Posted by JAmerican I use those functions. Ctrl + C, Ctrl + X, etc. I just don't assign any to KeyQuick.

These are not Palm OS standards and also not with KQ -- these are specific to the Sony Clie. The made these so that a) you don't have to press Ctrl+T and C, Ctrl+T and X, etc. to copy, cut, etc, but just Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, etc. If you look in the keyboard help (Ctrl+K) you can find them there; b) to have the PDA feel like a Windows PC/laptop where you have the exact same commands.
However, in some applications the Ctrl+C, etc doesn't work so you have to use the original Palm OS Command toolbar + C, which with the UX keyboard is Ctrl+T and then C. If you look in the Edit submenu of any applications, you'll see that "Copy /C", "Cut /X", etc. so it uses the same procedure as described above.
And a sidenote: I have seen that _some_ programs the shortcut thing was taken to a next level by not even having to type "/" or Ctrl+T before pressing the shortcut. Such one is SnapperMail's list view and e-mail view: in these views (where there is no cursor where you could type anything), if you press the shortcut keys (e.g. H to see your accounts, N for new message, S to select all, Y to mark unread/read, D to delete, E to purge deleted, O to receive one account, M to send and receive, R for preferences, etc. etc.) you launch that command immediately, without having to press Ctrl+T and then H, etc. etc. This works in views where there's no cursor; if there's a cursor, then simply pressing a letter will type that letter on the screen where the cursor is. (You can have a cursor in the To:, Cc:, Subj:, Body: etc. fields, so the shortcuts don't work in the write e-mail view without first pressing Ctrl+T; however, they do work with Ctrl+T and then the shortcut letter.)
One more sidenote: if you're in tablet mode without the keyboard, you can call up the Command toolbar with a strike of "/" and then write the letter in the graffiti area when the toolbar is on the screen. Ctrl+T is simply the Sony keyboard substitution of the Palm's Command stroke ("/").
I'm not sure if I'm writing it clear enough -- let me know guys if not (or if it's trivial I'm writing) |

| I don't know where I've seen this, but I was wondering if there's an ability for KQ to turn off the device when closing the unit, like Okey does.

| Control tap of KQ Just another small comment:
you guys all know that you can have the Control tap of KQ with what you assign in KQ's Basic -> EasySetup screen (e.g. hold the Jog dial or the Capture button if you've assigned JogRepeate or CaptureRepeate, or whatever you wanted from the drop down lists.)
From antoinepierre's wonderfully exhaustive post (8 pages in Word, A4... ) you also know that you can press Ctrl+Tab to get the Control tap.
I'm not sure, however, if it was mentioned that in many situation you can get the Control tap just with Tab (ie. without Ctrl). You can experiment about when it's working but my experience is that it works when there's no cursor on the screen. If you have a field where you can type letters in, then the Tab will just input a Tab but in many windows you don't have text fields but just buttons, drop down lists, checkboxes, etc. -- in these situations the Tab is already a Control tap.
(Finally, in Netfront, if the Tab doesn't take you to the next link as it normally does, press Shift+Tab, that will do the trick. This usually you need to do if your cursor is in a text field on the web page. To get out of the field, Tab is not enough as it only tries to input a Tab character but Shift+Tab will take you out of the field) |

| In KQ the way I have mine set up is that I have off in my side menu and just use that; but actually turning it off when closing the unit I don't believe so, but I still have a lot of learning to do. |
