| NR70V possibly for sale...fairly cheap I'm conducting a bit of a "survey" before I put this NR70V up for sale in the classifieds because it has some undesirable features. I got this in a trade with someone, and didn't really ask about the quality of the unit since it was a trade (pretty naive of me to think that everybody posting to ClieSource takes good care of their Clies; learned my lesson!), so I was very disappointed to see it all scratched up and really worn out.
Don't get me wrong, the unit itself performs fine, it's just that there are some major gashes on the frame around the screen, on the graffiti area itself (this person definitely did not use a screen protector; the area is "cloudy" because of so many scratches in the letter portion of the virtual graffiti area), and on the back of the unit. I thought about transplanting the NR70V guts into my NR70's case, but didn't think it'd be possible.
In addition, the former owner screwed around with JackFlash and the ROM and somehow managed to delete the original launcher in the ROM. He put Launcher X and another one (can't remember exactly which one though) into the ROM, and they're accessible, but if you were to need a hard reset, or accidentally let the Clie die from lack of battery charge, you would have to go into preferences and assign the calc button to one of the launchers after getting your Clie back up and running since the original launcher is no longer in ROM.
A long time ago I tried to fix this by trying to copy my NR70 ROM into the NR70V, but it didn't work. I didn't put much further effort into trying to restore the ROM because I was annoyed about the unit's other disappointing "features".
The camera works fine, the unit works fine if you can overlook the physical scratches to the screen and body, and if you keep it charged all the time, it would work just as any NR70V would.
Anyway, I'm thinking about selling it a price between $175 to $250. Granted, it may seem high, but it is still in decent working condition. I just am sending out this message to see if people thought that this would be a fair price for an NR70V in the above described condition. I can post pictures later on if anyone is interested.
Any input would be very much appreciated. |

| I think $175 to $250 is way too much to ask for damaged merchandise. Personally, I wouldn't buy it at all, but I'm sure you could find someone looking for a deal, especially since you are being honest about the condition of it. Too bad the person who sold it to you wasn't as honest.
I just sold a used NR70V for $450, but it was in "like new" condition and came with an extended warranty, upgraded stylus, screen protector, and two charge/synch cradles.
Good luck with that. It is sad to hear about mistreated Clies. |

| I realize that the price seems high; that's why I was posting this "survey" to gauge reaction...
To me, it's kind of high, since it is damaged physically and ROM-wise. However, to someone who probably doesn't care as much about scratches and stuff, and who probably knows just how to fix the ROM, it might be a good deal to him/her. So that's why I was asking. I'd be inclined to lower the price, just so I can get it out to someone else who would actually use it, however.
Given that you've sold a new unit for $450 and original price is a little higher, I think that my pricing for a unit that is technologically fine (except for the ROM issue) is pretty low. $250 is pretty high, I admit, but I was most likely going to stick to the lower end of the range at $175.

| I would really like to sell this NR70V to someone, so would a price of $125 to $150 be more appropriate? Also, would it help if I posted pictures (so people wouldn't assume the worst about the scratches I described)?
I forgot to mention that I will include the 128 MB MS that came with it.

| Jezlyn, I sent you a private message please read it...
As far as I know I am very interested in your offer
I think the 125-150 price range is better though..not only for my tight budget but since the ROM has that issue. |
