I was just catching up on some news and came across this. As usual, the conversation at PIC degenerates into a shouting match quickly, so I thought I would start something fresh here and see what all you 1src'ers think.

I'm still in the middle of On Intelligence, so I can't speak (ah-hum) too intelligently about it. I have been an armchair AI person for a while and have spent more time than I would like to admit, dreaming about AI on mobile platforms.

Up until now, computer scientists have been saying that they have failed in AI research, and that we are 20 years off from any really applicable useage. (They have been saying we will have it in 20 years for 50 years now

So what would you want from your intelligent clie? If you could have an intelligent digital assistant, what would you have it do?

Mine would:
- Answer some email.
- Have documents ready for me based on location or the person I'm currently talking to.
- Filter communications based on my current situation. (i.e. busy talking to someone, send calls to voicemail.)
- Have it scouring the net for news and articles that I may be interested in.
- Find information based on a camera image.
...

There are so many possible applications.

I would love to hear what people think about all this.
