| How much interest in cheap games? I was wondering how much interest there was in cheap/free versions of games. I was originally just planning on writing my own version of Bejeweled so I didn't have to pay $20 for such a simple game. If there's interest in fairly simple games for $2 or less, I was thinking about writing writing them in my spare time.
I don't know anything about PalmOS programming, but I could write a PC version of Bejeweled in under a week of coding in my spare time.
If there's enough interest, I'll set up some forums on my server for game suggestions. |

Yeah, I thought about that. I plan on making the source freely available and providing fairly unrestricted trial versions.
I was thinking that the games might be $1 if purchased directly and $2 if purchased through some place like PalmGear since they charge a fairly significant fee.
My take on it is that $1 is insignificant, especially when similar games go for $20. If somebody really can't pay, I don't have a problem with emailing a full version for free. |

| The next closest thing I've seen is N.I. Games. He charges $7 for 8 bundled games. Some of the games are REALLY short and/or simple, but it IS less than a $1 a game.
Another thing to consider is for freeware games... u owe us nothing. If they're are problems, requests for updates, then you really don't need to worry about it. Even a $1 - $2 may be annoying in where ppl will demand satisfaction. |

I was actually counting on people requesting new features and suggesting new games. I'm not all that great at coming up with an idea for a game, but I'm quite good at implementing something that's been suggested.
As far as bugs go, I'd never leave even a freeware game with any significant problems. |

| I've set up some forums at http://stevensaysno.com.
I guess if you're interested, post something in the forums. I'll give free copies of all future games to anybody that posts a game suggestion, feature request or bug. Obviously, the feature requests and bugs are going to have to wait until there are actually games.
I should be able to get a lot of coding done in the next couple of weeks. I'm still trying to figure out how to load bitmaps, but I'll try to get a Bejeweled clone made fairly soon. |

| My advice People here might not like this, but whatever.
I think if you come up with something good that's not a blatant copy of someone else you should charge some real money for it. You might help pay for college. And let's be honest, it's not like the Palm Games market is all that crowded. There are lots of holes, I think.
Not that you'll get rich or anything, but why not??? |

version for free. |
If you sell it for 2 dollars at Palmgear they wont let you sell it anywhere else for cheaper. In order to sell your software there it states that you cannot offer your software somewhere else for cheaper than whats at palmgear.
(wow its been awhile since i posted here im back sorta)
(still havent recovered from the day cliesource died)

| That reminds me of .............. http://www.esd-union.com/
I was shocked to learn that it's gone up to 40% to 50%. PDAmill had to up their prices recently b/c of this. On a semi-related note, i'm told that bookwriters only get 7% of what's earned. The publishers, printers, and everything else involved also get a big piece of the pie. |

Well, then I guess that settles it. My games are going to either be freeware or only available for purchase on my site. I think I'm going to stick to freeware at least for a while. Most Palm games are far simpler than my other project (also free), so I don't see much reason to charge for them.
For anybody waiting for an actual release of Gem Heist, I'm going to be putting some more work into it pretty soon. I usually go on coding binges that last anywhere from a week to a few months where I spend several hours a day (in addition to school and whatever else I might have to do) coding. |

| Hi,
I pay 30% to PalmGear.
You only pay 40% for the premier partner program where they feature you every now and then. That seems pretty o.k to me-but who knows, maybe the members of the ESD union get "special rates" for damaging publishes image |

| neat app. I wish someone would make an add-on to improve the functionality of the vibration. Nevermind that it has no support for games, but even with alarms it's quite pitiful. Something to adjust the power, frequency, and improve 3rd party compatibility (BigClock comes to mind) would be ideal. |
