| LinkStart 1.9 is released! PowerRun users -- read this :) Hi there,
Still struggling with PowerRun?
We are pleased to announce that LinkStart 1.9 has been released. LinkStart comes in two versions: Lite version is free and it offers more than any commercial competitors. Pro version is available for advanced users and it allows to manage custom links, covering complex and large applications. More information is available at: http://www.hexview.com/linkstart/

| Sounds good, flashseeker.
I'm happy to give it a try.
Can you also provide a comparison with the functionality offered by ZLauncher?

| Good:
Free application. (Kudos to the developers)
Interface is similar to PowerRun, with the addition of app icons and HiRes+ mode (Portrait and Landscape).
Smaller RAM footprint than PowerRun at 38K versus 62K.
Linked databases are listed and their transfer can be modified. Bad:
Very slow RAM/Card transfer for large applications (ie: MoePaint 9s versus 4s for PowerRun)
No Send/Beam function.
Imperfect transfer for some apps (MoePaint is blank in the DIA area until toggled in/out)
Interferes with PowerRun shortcut scan when both apps are installed.
Original .prc file ends up in Card Linkstart folder with a .dat extension.
Overall, a good and cheap alternative to PowerRun if your available RAM space is getting frustratingly small!
No real incentive to change for current PowerRun users, unless one needs the advanced features (?) of the commercial version.
Incidentally, PowerRun works in HiRes+ (Portrait and Landscape) with the latest version of CodeDiver.

| I can't see the benefit to the freeware version. It will copy the .prc to RAM, but then just leaves it in RAM after exiting the app. Then I have to go delete it, or the .prc still uses RAM. Maybe I missed something, but it looks like only the commercial version will "move" a .prc from MS to RAM, and back.

| You missed something... Apps and databases are moved back and forth unless you changed the default settings. Do not confuse the prc file and its associated shortcut residing in RAM!

Ulness you are using PalmOS earlier than 4.2 that does not support application start/stop notifications. Then your application will be exported back to the card as soon as you run another link. Support for older PalmOS versions will be included in LinkStart 2.0

Do you mean that I have to start another application via LinkStarter to have the previous app exported back to MS?
