Your opinion about camera phones?

I think that there is no sense to put better camera than 0.3 megapixel camera to cellphone, because screen is almost always 100x smaller than inself the picture. For example, my friend has cellphone with about 170x200 screen and it has build-in 1 megapixel camera, so is there any idea to capture to big picture and view it in so small screen? No sense! So big picture will only waste memory and when he will sent it, it does last much longer.

Comments / opinions ?

Personally, I don't see the sense of having a camera in my phone at all.

I work for a company that requires me to go into federal buildings several times a year. There, you will find many cell phones. Wou will NOT find ANYTHING what has camera capabilities. A simple cell phone link back to the office, or nada.

Most PC's have a high resolution screen. If you look at the photo's with such a device, maybe there are advantages. But given the fact that the amount of pixels is only one facet of better picture quality and most cameraphones have a cheap cmos sensor (even so with megapixel cameraphones) it does not really make sense to have a megapixel cameraphone in my opinion.

There are occasions where I want to take a picture, but I left my camera at home because it's too cumbersome. With a cameraphone I could just take it out (because it's on anyway) and snap the picture. It's better to have a picture of trivial immediate usefulness than no picture at all.

Yeah. I agree with all of you. Camera in cellphone is same thing than pda in cellphone. However treo 650 seems to break this "rule".

If these cellphones had true video conferencing, then the camera would be usefull for me, but as is, it's kind of a gimmick.

I don't own one, but do have a v710 here that I've been working with for a demo. Its camera is better then the other phones I've tried, but not really good enough for anything but play. My contract is up, so me and the laty will most likely be getting these phones, but not for the camera, but for it's great voice recognition. I heard there are a couple more phones that are just as good for VR, so I'll check them out also.

i actually think its great to have a 1MP camera on the phone because u never know what u'll see. u also have the option to change the resolution of the camera to like 160x112 before utake it

I agree with Zackepceo. It's better to have a lousy picture than no picture. With my camera phone, I normally will always have a camera with me when I'm away from my apartment. And the lower resolution of the pictures means less hard drive space taken up for storage.

Also, think about it: whether a picture is great or not depends on the person viewing the picture, not the camera technology.

(I'm just hope the TSA won't confiscate it come April)

Unfortuately I still need to carry a book of matches...

Yeah... but i did mean more about why developer will produce 1mp camera, because 0.3 would be more cheaper to make ...

Lightbulb Camera phones

I have a Motorola V220 and I have actually found a usefull thing to use the camera for...but I have yet to firgure out how to get the pics on my computer...Without paying $ 40. Anyway, I went to this conert with some friends and they didn't let us take our cameras in, but my cell phone had a camera on it...not the greatest pictures, but some okay ones. And it is nice to have a custom background of your g/f or something that youthought was funny...or anything...that's what Ilike about the camera phone.
