| I think there is a bug: When an app switches to 4 bit (or 1 bit?) display mode in landscape mode, everything hangs on a white screen. Soft reset gets out of it.

Email them about it. No-one uses apps like this very often, and none are in landscape, so they didnt think about that.

| Here's what they said: "There is no support for 1-bit, 2-bit and 4-bit display modes in Landscape utility.
What application forces switching to the 4-bit mode?"
One doesn't want to rotate the PDA when switching apps to legacy apps. Moreover, a hang is never acceptable.

They should just treat legacy apps as restricted apps, so they at least wont have problems with hanging.

| Hi,
I understand the centralizing and not having many many threads all on one subject but why not have the one that was already started http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78705 and lock the others?
Picking to keep this thread open when others (the above mentioned) contained more information seems an odd choice.
Peace,
David

Except then they would need an enormous list of restricted apps.

Hi David,
I actually thought of having that thread open. However, as more people are becoming aware of Landscape, I felt it's better to start a fresh thread. This current thread covers the current version and of course, will not cover the beta version, or speculations anymore.
A potential new user will not wade through the above mentioned thread because it talks about outdated information. |

| Thank you Joel. I do think this will make discussion much more helpful, by removing tons of obsolete material. When is your review comming out? |

I was thinking they could just recognize 1, 2, and 4 bit apps, and set them in portrait. |
They SHOULD do that. They should just have a screen mode switch to 1, 2 or 4 bits automatically set to portrait. I guess I could write a hack that does that, but it's their job. :-) Quote:

I can fix the VG problems any time. The SB problems are the hard ones.

Right now, I dont think anyone is devoting their time to make a SB for landscape, and (if you disagree, please say so) I think the VG should be higher priority, just my opinion.

Thanks! I actually came out with a "first thoughts" article. I did this because I feel that the varied experiences in the different threads earlier are more than enough as a review. |
