Two things, first off Li-ion batteries are not that dangerous. Sony's warning was designed primarily to protect their corporate butts from lawsuits.

Second, regarding the current/voltage out put of 4 2300 mAh batteries:

Parallel-->9200 mAh @ 1.2 volts

Series-->2300 mAh @ 4.8 volts

You can never get more out of the batteries than they have to offer - the UX-50 requires the series configuration - djboa was spot on.

Well 2300 mAh is not so bad ... Personnally if I want to listen to music or watch a movie in business trip or whatever, most of the time I have 220V not so far, or I don't mind adding things like semsons proposes.

Are either the devices posted by antoinepierre series? Also, the Semons USB extender produces 5.6V @ 800ma, is that good enough or too much? Can you put 2300mah batteries in it? Thanks.

they are all series, otherwise they wouldnt work as any usb extender needs to hit close to the 5v provided by the usb ...

the semons spec is weird since you can't talk about its spec without saying what batteries are in it ... so yes, be all means load it up with 2300mah batteries ...

if you have any doubts about any of this just stay with the eb40, thats the only one that is specced by sony themselves

Yea, but it dies very quickly. I could play music on it for less than an hour and I'm at 80%. Its because the actual eb40 battery is very small...

...also, my EB40 is partly damaged from my attempting Hippo's mod and my charger is destroyed.

I'm currently getting a leather case charger and I haven't used my device seriously for 5 days. I've turned it on and power saved it off to save battery life. I have 45~60% on it. I hope my EB40 will work once I get my Cold Heat Solderer and my leather.

BTW, how long did it take you to receive your charger from Brando?

Can you use the USB cable that came with the UX to charge your device via the Charging cradle?

Can you use more than 2300mah or is that the limit?

those were the biggest batteries I could find ... can't see any reason why it should be the limit ... if you feel like it use d-cells instead and get way more mah ...

yes any ordinary cable with a mini usb plug at the end will work

yes that extender seems nice, and the plug might actually work directly with the brando charger, test it without the ux to see if the led in the brando charger comes on (it takes either an usb or a mini plug)

A device draws whatever amount of power it requires, a battery's sole job is to provide it - a battery with a larger mAh rating will just provide it for a longer period of time than one with a smaller rating - if the voltage was correct you could power your UX-50 from a car battery for easily over a month, mind you'd probably need to buy a bigger case for it

I have this one, very nice but very big !
Expensive shipping fee for overseas shipping. (France).

Standard shipping time with Brando for HK->France = 1 week. Standard mail. If there is any problem, feel free to mail him in english, he is very kind and answers quickly.

Note to european people : the customs has never stopped the parcel to ask me to pay some import taxes or VAT.

What type of USB is on the battery extender itself?
