| Sorry about that. Was getting IM'd while recording. I'll see if I can switch from Stereo Mix input to Microphone after the music cue. Or I could just drop the music... |

| Since the format of podcasts are just plain MP3, I'm sure a lot of you know already how to put them in your device's memory card. We will try to put up instructions on how to upload the MP3 file to your handheld. It will be nice to collect hem and re-listen to them when probably taking the subway/train/bus/etc.
Another set of good podcasts are at Engadget's: http://podcasts.engadget.com

I enjoy the show, and being able to "take it with" is great!
Great idea folks! |

| I only subscribe to two podcasts: Engadget and 1src
I use iTunes, iPodderX, and the iPod. In fact, I listened to the 1src Podcast on my way to work. |

| What a great idea !
I have one suggestion that could ease the retrieval of the cast directly from a wireless palm.
When you use Hand-Rss, you can use the "open link" command to start up netfront (or other browsers) and download the mp3 to your external memory card.
I found this technique while reading engadget (see there for details http://podcasts.engadget.com/entry/...6957771/#c38576 )
In the case of 1SRC's podcast RSS the link property of the item (in the rss file) is set to something like "http://1src.com/?m=show&id=707". In order to be able to use hand-rss effectively, this property should be set to the location of the mp3 : "http://www.1src.com/podcasts/1srcPodcastOne.mp3".
Could 1SRC make that change ?
Thanks |

| lekeno,
On the main article, at the last paragraph, there is actually a special RSS feed for the 1SRC podcasts. I think you can use that. Here's the direct link. Tell us if it works on Hand-RSS: http://www.1src.com/podcasts/rss.xml

| Enjoyed the first Podcast too, but I have to disagree with part of the broadcast regarding the Mac. While I do agree that familiarity does play a part in the decision the Mac's failure to take a stronger hold is more complicated than that. I am currently a Mac user and believe it is a superior OS but...
Apple has a way of coming out with terribly innovative technology ideas and then just dropping them. Just look at the Newton. The first time I saw anything resembling multimedia was on the Mac, yet the Mac's DVD software does not mix web pages with DVD display like Windows PCs currently do. It was only very recently that "smart" auto bookmarking was added.
Apple does not make the really cheap junk systems that you see in the Windows market. While I would never buy one of these myself, I can see how inexperienced users would find these choices to be better because they don't realize the junk is going to fall apart terribly soon. Once they do begin to learn what to look for, they have become familiar with Windows. There goes that familiarity card again, but with a whole new twist.
I did manage to convince a friend into "switching" but they have become frustrated with the multiple expensive OS upgrades without even a price break for those who bought the earlier versions. The original version of OSX may have been reasonably stable, but it was also stripped of many features you would expect to see in a complete OS. The current version is wonderful, but there's some people out there just a little frustrated with having to pay $100 for bug fixes and missing components or people who just didn't upgrade who are really frustrated with an unfinished OS.
While Apple is great at making compelling TV advertisements, their representation right out in the public, where people can see the computers has been a horrendous nightmare. There's Comp. USA with maybe one Apple representative at the most and other store employees leading consumers away from those "other" computers, and then there's also the limited number of locations you can actually go to buy one. In Fresno, I have the choice of going to Comp USA, or buying on-line, and that's about it. Another potential "switcher" I had convinced into buying a Mac, was so disappointed with the blatant lies he was told at Comp. USA he changed his mind, not based on the Mac, itself, but who he would have to deal with if he bought one.
Some people buy a computer mostly based on playing games. Games almost always seem to come out on Windows PCs earlier, if they even do make it to the Mac.
Some people just aren't aware that yes, you CAN run office on the Mac. I just had someone feed me the same piece of miss-information regarding opening Word and Excel files on the Palm.
It's just so much more complicated than putting computers in schools. |

| Good Job Jeff,
I liked your tone of voice, the way your monolog was structured and all the supporting arguments you gave. However, I would like to listen a more fluent dialog without the ahhhh, or uhhhh..! and breathing noises. On video probably it woudn't be to bad, but on voice-only it has to come out much cleaner.
Keep up the good work,
Al

| I noticed that as well, but wrote it off to being the first Podcast.
I'm a singer, and do voice-over stuff too, so I understand the mic protocols thing, but I liked how informal it felt.
Mic slickness will develop I'm sure.
One question though:
I dled the 'cast onto my TH55 and Audio Player told me it was corrupt.
Do I need a different player to play it? |

| strider,
Hmm. I tried streaming it using MMPlayer (on a Treo 600) and it played fine. I'll try to do some testing with the TH55 when I get home.
Thanks for reporting this.
