| Help finding a backup/secondary PDA When I upgrade to a new PDA model, I usually keep my old PDA around for emergency purposes and for secondary uses or purposes that I do not use my main PDA for. I had upgraded from a Sony Clie TG50 to a Tapwave Zodiac 2 back in July. I love my Zodiac 2, even with it's scratched metal front (amazingly, it holds up really well when it meets concrete). My old PDA, a Sony Clie TG50 isn't holding up as well, though. It's back screws are long gone (and Sony doesn't make them easy to get), the metal insert on the cover has long since been removed after extensive damage to it, and the battery life sucks. I originally complained about my Zodiac only getting only average battery life. I would go an hour or two on and off of playing games, listening to music, and ebook reading and it would jump down to 85%. My old TG50 now is even worse! It can't go but 30 minutes of ebook reading before it is almost at 70%. All of this activity is of course at minimal brightness, and all power-saving features enabled (such as beam receive off).
So, my dilemna is to get a decent backup/secondary PDA without breaking the bank. I'm mainly posting this to see if anyone knows of a possible PDA that fits the following criteria. Here is what I'd like and please note any older, discontinued PDAs, are still good in my book. As long as the battery is "fresh," and is in good shape. What I need in a PDA is the following;
* - 320*320 or better resolution screen.
* - SD Card slot (media continuity between devices. Zodiac has two SD slots)
* - 16MB or more internal RAM.
If you notice, I did not say color is a must. A decent screen is, though. I'm not as picky about my secondary PDA as I am my main PDA. My Zodiac I use for gaming (It honestly has replaced my Game Boy), music, photo viewer, organizer, and other daily tasks. The "secondary" unit usually stays at home and serves (in the case of my TG50) as a universal remote, second eBook reader, emergency clock, and a simple game player (like solitaire). I honestly need a device with a decent screen, color or black & white, SD card slot, and solid battery life. I'd preferrably like to have a model that has come out within the past two years. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Please note you can always e-mail me with your thoughts or ideas to me, or send a PM. I check 1src about once a week, maybe once every two weeks.

| Since you want sd then I'd say the T/E would be the best option for a backup pda.

| Thank you for the suggestion. I've been doing some additional looking, and from I've found out it looks like either the Tungsten T|E or the T2 would work good. I owned the Tungsten T1 and like the device overall, but hated the screen. I went through three different units all with dust under the screen and problems with dead pixels. As my signature shows I then went to the NX70V. For my main PDA, I have no plans to "downgrade" my screen size. I absolutely love the large 320*480 display on my Zodiac and it blows away the Nintendo DS, and it possibly may even outdo Sony's PSP as well! The only complaint I have about my Zodiac is that many game publishers haven't brought many games to it, yet.

| Since you say you had a TG, I would recommend a T|C. It has SD, fast processor that can be clocked down to save battery life, built-in keyboard that TG users have found so appealing, pleanty of ram, and wifi to boot. Sounds good to me. Sorry to hear that about your battery too, the TGs have historically had excellent battery life, but I noticed mine is not holding a charge quite as long either.

I had the T|C for a while. Solid PDA, awesome battery life even with WiFi enabled but only so-so WiFi performance. The range on it is about the same as that of my Zodiac and my Bluetooth enabled desktop, 30 feet. It's multimedia capabilities sucked, big time. I use both my Zodiac and TG50 for MP3 playback, with PocketTunes on the Zod and Clie AudioPlayer on the TG50 (thank you S(uck)ony for proprietary sound APIs).
Also, the thumboard was good, but like the TG50 not quite perfect. I'd also like to avoid getting close to Zodiac prices ($399) for just a replacement PDA that gets periodic use. I do thank you for spending your time to suggest a PDA. I think I'm set on the T2 unless I can find a different PDA. I'm keeping it under the $300 price, and if I can, under $200. Thanks again for all the help.

| The T2 might be a good bet as that keeps your BT, color screen and memory up. The TE is good if you dont need the BT. Those are the best that I can suggest of nearly new models. The TE can be had for $140 for an open box model and that would keep you pretty much in budget. |

| If you can live without the keyboard, the T2 is a very good choice. It has a very good balance of power, storage, usability, and price.
