Lexi Drugs vs Dr.Drugs

I am using epocrates(free version) and Dr. Drugs (from Skyscape). I have not tried or heard much about LexiDrugs. Has anyone tried both Lexi and Dr.Drugs?

Which is best?

Dr. Drugs is very good and fast load from memory stick. I use the Tarascon guide that is also MS compatible, but a little slower to load.

lexidrugs is comprehensive and thorough. they pride themselves on this and it is by far the drug reference I rely on the most.

Being from Canada Lexidrugs is better than epocrate as it includes all the generic company drugs and also states the cytochrome involved in the metabolism

they were once the same product.

then 'Lexi' drugs disappeared and was replaced by Dr. Drugs. And then Lexi reappeared. I only have experience with Lexi but have seen Dr. on someone else's palm and they are basically the same.

I use Lexi-comp many times a day and have found it to be worth the money I paid.

Lexi just posted a new reader the other day - loads much more quickly off external media now compared to before.

I originally got Lexi from Skyscape. Eventually, they dropped Lexi and started selling DrDrugs, so now I have that. I think either is better than ePocrates, but I didn't notice much difference between Lexi and DrDrugs.

The BEST thing about epocrates is the ability to know how much the medication costs. I also use it for quick dosing info for the non-renal failure non-liver impaired patient. It's also ok for drug-drug interactions.

If I need to know adverse reactions/contraindications/complex dosing etc I go to Lexi. My frequent frustration with Lexi (mine is 2 years old but I think it's still present) is if I want to know a particular formulation of something like a cough syrup or nitroglycerin, it will often have many lumped together without specific dosing info for each brand. I can usually still figure things out though.

Lexidrugs

Anyone have the old version of Lexidrugs Version 4.1.3 and or Apothecarium? I am an EMS worker and I used Lexidrugs in a course I took for training. It was great but they no longer make it. However I found a site that still has the trial version. I called Skyscape but it is no longer supported so I can't buy the unlock key. Any help appreciated. Happy holidays!!
