| ImageConverter 1.5 released IC 1.5 was released in Japan. You may d/l it from following link: http://www.nccl.sony.co.jp/download/C-W017-006-01/
You must uninstall IC 1.x and insert CLIE CD-ROM before running the installation file.
And if you are using XP, try to use Applocale for changing to Japanese environment during setup and running IC 2.
Some changes in 1.5:
1. Support WMV
2. Support compressed audio track (like MP3)
3. Faster conversion speed
4. Changed "Long Play (LP)" to "LP1" and "LP2" (same as in VR100K)
IC 1.5 is using interface like in IC 2 (XML), so partly English translation is possible. I will post the localized file later.
BTW, new ICPrefs (maybe v3?) is on progress for supporting both IC 1.5 and 2. But as I'm using NZ90, so IC 1.5 hasn't show "Super-High quality" option in conversion (I think the setup program will check CLIE CD and configure for suitable profiles). If someone is using UX/TH, try to install IC 1.5 and tell me how many options on quality selection. |

| Here is the url for English translation language file: http://www.i-netserv.net/clie/IC1.5Lang_EN.zip
Put Lang.dtd file to C:\Program Files\Sony\Image Converter 1.5\MovieConverter\Data folder.
Like in IC 2, only the main screen's options are translated. Enjoy it.

| Thanks Jackho!
This is really awaited update.
Can you translate whole interface ? Including menus and options in menus?
I have US UX-50 and I did all that you told, but I still don't have SHQ option.
Max what can I get by default is High Quality (384 bps, 320x200x15 fps).
I have "enable_super_hq 1" by default - and still no option. Tried to play around with registry, imported SHQ configs from IC2.0 - and still no SHQ option in IC1.5 .
May be this is because of US UX-50. Somebody with Jap. one should try.
However - if I will change HI profile to 768 kbps, and framerate to 30 - everything is converting fine and playing on my UX like normal SHQ.
What is interesting - is that IC1.5 is based on IC2.0. When you press TEMP.CONVERT - it converts file to \docs&set\all\IC1.5 - and it converts in MP4 format. Pretty same format of IC2.0. Files are playing fine on UX using FMP. When you press convert arrow after that - IC1.5 quickly reconvert MP4 file to MQV. (This takes around 5-6 secs).
I tried to mess around with this finding and force IC1.5 to make 480x320 MQV file. Changed registry and stuff. It TEMP.CONVERTs fine to 480x320, but in the stage when it reconvert it to MQV - it gives some ??????????? error. . So no luck here .
But since it reconvert so fast from MP4 to MQV - I think it just rewrites headers or something. So may be there is a way for NX,NZ and other clie users to play MP4 ???
Cliepet - what do you think ?
Jackho! What kind of update is it ? http://www.nccl.sony.co.jp/download...3-01/index.html
May be combining this update with VZ codecs will allow playing MP4 files in older Clies? |

| Thanks for your info about no SH option in IC 1.5. Of course I know we can modify existing profiles for higher bitrates and framerates, but I need to make sure for programming ICPrefs.
For whole translation of IC (in btoh 1.5 and 2) is required "direct" modification on the exe file. This may cause copyright problem. If you need, I can post the translation of the menu and options here (w/ screen capture).
It is true that IC 1.5 will first convert to MP4 when using temp convert function. But I don't think we need to get other CLIEs to play MP4. As using IC 1.5 can convert video fast and more supports on video and audio codex. There are no advantages to play MP4 actually. And modifies system files on CLIE may cause some problems... It maybe not worth on that (but I think that worth to add support for SH, 480x320 video playback on other CLIEs)...
The update link you quoted is a really old update, it was added support for playing MQV recorded by VR100K (LP1 and LP2 mode). It is also avaliable in Sony US. |

| Thanks alot Jack! I'm upgrading to IC1.5 right now, can't wait for your ICPrefsV3 Convertor Tool!
Actually I use JP version of UX50, also running WinXP(JP) but SHQ option on ImageConvertor1.5 is missing? Just the same as above case.
Anyway, I converted a video clip in HQ 320x240(384kbps) with IC1.5 & also the very same clip in with IC2 at setting:480x320(768kbps). There were big differences & picture quality was no where close to IC2.
Guess will need to do some registry tweaking to boost it to SHQ settings. Otherwise the quality just isn't acceptable.

| If you could translate options with screenshots - this would be great.
I am sure that old Clie users will be happy to play 480x320 MP4 files Even in 384 kbps in 15 fps. That's why there is an advantage of MP4 support.
We all waiting for your new ICpref. Thanks in advance.
May be it would be easier for you to create 2 separate versions ? One for IC2.0 and another for IC1.5 ? |

This is great, but I couldn't find the actual link on the page (my Japanese is not so great).
Could you provide the link to the actual download?
Thanks, Jay |

Click on the blue button below the scrollable text box that's about 3/4 of the way down the page. |

| As I said on the other IC1.5 thread, if you care to read it, the worldlingo.com website does a good job of translating this website.

| I don't think that there is such difference in quality.
Codecs used are the same. This difference is coming from decoder side.
Make sure that you are using same decoder codec for these files.
If you are using 3ivx - check in 3ivx D4 Video Decoder/Directshow priority - compatibility for DivX3,4,5 and Xvid.
============
2 Mr.Nako - read instruction carefully.
You must UNISTALL all old versions of IC1.X and insert Clie CD, and then install new one.

| MrNako, you have to uninstall the older version of IC first.
