Question Launcher increases battery drain?

I installed a launcher (zlauncher) two days ago, and I seem to notice that the battery is draining quite a bit faster than when I just used the internal launcher. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just my imagination?

No, I don't notice anything, except when I am using WiFi and that chews up battery power. Unless it's another app that's running draining your battery more.

Funny ... I was just thinking along those same lines.

Acutally, I have been using ZLauncher since the beginning, w/good battery life, but nothing to compare it too.

Then I added McPhling and it sure seemed as if the battery was draining quicker.

I wonder if there is an always on polling loop, looking for the "activation stroke", and that this consumes more power ???

Anyone with Palm Programming expertise care to comment on if this could conceivably be the case ?

I don't think it's draining batteries faster; rather, it reports battery life differently (more in/accurately?).

uh... we it never used to be like this until today. now when i run a program it drops the battiers liek 20 percent. even the palm launcher fluctuates a lot but it doesn' t really go down. the zlauncher one goes down and then the palm one follows it. so i emailed zztechs. but it's really frustrating and ... ouch.. see , in the last 30 seconds, it whent from 38% to 33% just sitting there. for a few minutes.

Mine fluctuates, too. One time, I used WiFi, got down to about 50%, plugged in my Game Controller, and the battery creeped back upwards, all the way to over 70%!

The curcuitry in the batterys won't let you run them low enough to damage them. It will cut the power off so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

When I had mentioned an app was running, I was talking about something that had continuos activity, not a launcher. Sometimes, and I have done this myself, I push on the power button too long, thinking I had shut it off and all I did was kill the backlight.

I thought I had read somewhere that deep discharges of the Lithium battery would shorten it's life span.

Deep discharges will shorten battery life, but serious damage won't happen to the battery because of the circuitry that it has.

Maybe its because of this bug in OS 5??

# Values returned by SysBatteryInfo() function are wrong

that is fixed in 5.2

Hi Cameron!

I am sorry, I respect your right to have an opinion, I just feel that this isn't the proper venu for it.

Best Regards!
