| My New Tungsten T5 I was rather surprised that it showed up, today. Nevertheless, it is charging right now. All I have available right now is a 640x480 digital camera, but I went ahead and posted some pictures of the Tungsten T5 along with the Tungsten T3 and the Zodiac 2. I hope to have a lot more pictures this evening taken with a much better camera. Until then, here are a few... Tungsten T5 Pictures
By the way, I ordered it directly from PalmOne. There appears to be an offer for a free hardcase for it, too.
Take care,
Lance |

| Do you think you can keep us update on day to day operations and your thoughts about how it performs, battery life, and how some app work better on it than your T3? Also how well does your PC see it as a drive and how fast does it transfer data. One more thing, do you, or are you in the furture going to try the P1 sd wifi card with the T5?

Plus, I am at work, and I am in the middle of releasing a plant-wide, web-based application. Supposedly, PalmOne is working on them. Have I heard that before?

I also received mine today from palmOne. Let me know if you noticed the power button must be depressed a ways to turn on. I'm coming from a Tungsten E and it's power button was very sloppy. I can't think of a better way to explain it.
I was suprised at how nice and solid the unit felt considering the plastic body...very nice looking.
Thanks. Kent | |

Thanks. Kent | It is a very solid device. The power button seems to work fine for me and is responsive. Unfortunately, it seems a little more recessed into the device than it does on the Tungsten E. Thus, it takes a small distance just to reach the button. The power button has never bothered me a whole lot because I double-click on the select button of the navigation pad to turn my device on.
I hope this helps, and let us know how your experience goes.
Take care,
Lance |

#6 | | Guest | Can you test to see if the flash memory survives a hard reset? There seems to be some controversy about this...some say a hard reset wipes out the RAM as well as the flash memory, but others saying a hard reset affects only the RAM and that it takes a new "zero out" reset to wipe out the flash memory. I really need to know! I've currently got a TC, love the big screen of the T5, and wouldn't mind popping in a WiFi card when needed, but not if I still need to keep an SD card loaded for my frequent backups! Does me no good to back up to the flash memory if that gets wiped out with a hard reset...
Thanks in advance for the info! | |

| According to this article in the knowledge library a simple hard reset will also delete data in the flash drive, but a specifically designed program may be able to recover it. Thus when a total wipe out of the data is needed, zero out reset should be used instead.
Here is Palm Reset Mega Guide at the Palm1 support site. Enjoy. |

| Looks absolutely gorgeous Lance, so I hope you have alot of fun whilst exploring it!!!
Regards, Gero
Oh and if whilst messing around with it, you find that the Palm Contacts app can be beamed to the T3... and that the contacts app works on the T3 (showing contact pictures.. and contact pictures then syncing with the new palm desktop contact picture field), please DO let us know!!!!
Oh and if your reallly stuck for something to do.. i'm sure we T3 owners would al;so love to know if the 'media' app is beamable to and operable on the T3 (hint hint hint)
Cheers! |

| Lance, those were possibly the best VGA digital pics that I have ever seen. And that is weird since I owned a Z71 and have a rx3715 that does VGA pics.
The size looks a tich bigger than the TE, but nicely smaller than the extended T3 and Zodiac.
Do please check on the calendar bug. I am guessing that you may get it. And if not, one has to see what maybe is done differntly, or if you have a newer ROM patch than the other reviewers did.
The wifi card drivers would need to be upgraded in part becaue the hardware and software are different. Sad part is that no other company will not be able to do teh drivers becaue P1 has not shared that special P1 code to make drivers for P1 devices work (Zire71 notwithstanding says SanDisk). |

| Well, the calendar bug is there. Of course, I never would have found it if I had not have known what to look for. Nevertheless, the bug is there. Note: This only occurs if the month is the default view for the calendar. There is a work around at PalmOne's support site, but I did not try it.
Instead, I performed a hard reset as requested by many here. I lost everything in the working memory and on the internal flash drive. Bummer!
By the way, using the File Transfer on the desktop, I transferred 90 MB of data in roughly 5 minutes. Not real good, but I have not tried the drive mode, yet.
More to come, but I want to go spend some time with the kids before they go to bed.
Later,
Lance |

Cheers! | I will see what I can do with other file managers, but I am unable to beam the applications using the built-in tools. This is probably better left up to someone better than me.
Best regards,

| Lance - does the T5's screen have the 4 orange "stage lights" at the bottom of the screen like some of the T3's do? Does your T3? How would you rate the screen quality of the T5 vs. the T3.
THANKS
