Post PEG-TJ27 Infrared Port Issue
A limited number of Sony’s CLIÉ handheld model PEG-TJ27 in the last production lots have an infrared port which may not function properly during communication mode (‘beaming’). [details]

Don't feel bad.
Sony also made quite a few TH55s without any bluetooth in em!
They call those the "North America" versions.

Maybe you guys just got the IR-less "North American" version of the TJ27?

See? We had to pay X-amount MORE for a feature like that!!
