Pocket DVD studio for Palm 1.2.6

Anyone use this? Is it easy to use? Is it worth getting? I have tried to get movies onto my Ux with no luck. Way too many programs needed and too may conversions for me. I don't have the time for all that. I am looking for something easy.

As mentioned in other posts, and my personal experience, is that Pocket DVD can not create audio track that can be played on UX. It also seems to have problems with some resolutions.

The only solution I found, was freeware. DVDX to rip to MPG, then IC Prefs editor + Sony Image Converter to make the MQV file. And it takes some adjustmets to settings. And it takes a long time to convert and download (almost the duration of the movie!)

Help will be on its way this December at UMite.com

Don't bother going there now, you'll find nothing.

Actually I use pocket dvd and it works great (I have not use it that much just encoded 2 or three movies so far but the quality has been excellent.) The one thing that I found was that you had to go with the higher settings. I pumped up the resolution and raised the quality. An dvd would compress to about 500 megs which is rather large for a palm device, but when I tried the lower setting and shrunk the dvd to about 250 megs the audio was really bad and the video was not to hot either.

The program itself could not be any easier to use. One step process.

Ideal settings for Pocket DVD Studio on TH55?

For those of you who have had sucess with converting DVDs, it would be appreciated if you would post what settings you have used with Pocket DVD Studio that offer the best quality on a TH55 assuming that (file) size doesn't matter.

What palyer are you using for the TH55

After converting from Pocket DVD to .avi what player are you using for the TH55? Are you converting with image converter? I keep getting an error message "file format not supported"

Send a message via ICQ to inomad
i use pocket dvd studio on a t3 and its awsome. If you can get mmplayer to work correctly on a UX, i can imagine that pocket dvd studio will serve you well

dalzar - I use the Sony Movie Player program and find that it works great on the TH55. MMplayer seems to need a faster processor.
If you are getting an error message from IC then I suspect you may need to use a different codec in Pocket DVD. Try DivX MPEG 4 or Xvid MPEG 4. AND the problem with Pocket DVD is that it encodes the audio as MP3 which Movie Player won't use. You'll get video and no sound track without running the file through VirtualDub. OR you could just use DVDx (free) and do it in one step. Search the forums and you will find the settings to use.

Once you've got the output from DVDx you can rename the file to MOV?????.MPG (all uppercase and replace the ? with numbers), move it to your MS and play it. By the way the file needs to go in the DCIM/101MSDCF folder on the memory stick. If you don't have the folder then create it off of the root directory. Unfortunately you won't have the actual name of the video, just what ever name you gave it. AND you can run the file through IC, it just takes longer than dumping it directly to the MS.

Well after running the DVD through Pocket DVD rip process and then through Virtual Dub, using the settings I have found in the forum and saving as "old .AVI" in VD, which was my original problem. I am getting a huge file even with a 480 bitrate (from 480MB from pocket DVD to almost 2 GB from virtual dub) After running it through image converter it processes down to about 650MB. Still to large for my 512 stick. Process produces great quality from a clip, just still need to bring file size down
