| Divx to Clie Is there any one program that will just take the Divx file and convert it into usable media on the clie. I am not much with doing multiple things with files. Can anyone help or give me a good run easy rundown on what to do. I know there are many threads on this ,, but I am a n00b to all this |

| No.
Read up on doom9.org on how to do DivX->MPEG1 (VCD). Or maybe VCDHelp.com. Then just use Image Converter for MPEG1->MQV (for the NX).

| It's rather simple. First your run the Divx through TMPGEnc and then take the MPEG which is created and run it through Image Converter. That is all you need to do!

Yeah, just use TMPGenc.

| I thought that the NX60/NX70V were capable of playing MPEG1 files without conversion. Is it necessary to use Image Converter after processing with TMPGEnc? I know that I am able to view MPEG1 files recorded with my digital camera without conversion.
See also the sidebar on this page: http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/feature/sony_NX70V.htm

| It is but MPEG1 files are gigantic. Take the extra step and convert it to MQV with Image Converter (it's quick).

#7 | | Guest | How does TMPG work? I downloaded the program. I then clicked on the NTCS and then kept pressing next. I tried to convert a Divx of Matrix whix is 690 mb to mpeg so that I could put it through the image converter. But, everytime I try and have the TMPG program begin to encode, it says that it can not find some P(something) file. Can someone please give me some more specific directions as I know that the image converter has turned most of the videos I have put through it at a rate of about 1mb per minute. At this rate, all I need is my 128mb memory stick.
Please Help!!! | |

| hope: TMPGenc comes with directions on how to use it.... you can also read on its web site.....
Knowing what that P (something) file is would be necessary for us to help you anyway.

#10 | | Guest | More problems OK. I have got it to convert the avi to mpeg so that quicktime is able to play it. But, big BUT, it doesn't encode for sound and it only converts the movie to a certain point. What I mean is the first time it did 6 minutes. The second 41 minutes. The third 23 minutes. Each one without sound. What am I doing wrong and is there an easier way?

#11 | | Guest | This page has a good DivX to vcd guide: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm
You should edit the video in TMPGENC into 2 or 3 smaller clips. The clips created by TMPGENC should readily convert with kinoma or Image converter without having to convert to a quick time file.
The mpg1 - VCD format works well for me to get my videos into my clie.

| I've found the following website very helpful for converting to MPEG: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/divxtovcd#audio
The link talks about problems that TPMEng has with some audio and suggests how to resolve it.
I'm still having trouble getting these onto my CLIE though because of the size of the files. I still need to work the right settings to get at least half a movie onto one 128M MS

Hope,
If you have the divx (and at 690mb it sounds about right) then you need to run it through virtualdub which comes with the gordian knot pack (excellent bit of software).
Use virtual dub in standalone , set the MPEG4 compression, change audio to full processing and compress the audio using MSADCPM.
I'd suggest you also increase the volume (200-250%) seems to work for the CLie, otherwise the sound on your CLie will be inaudible.
The resultant AVI will be about twice the size of the original, and can easily be processed through image convertor. With the Matrix if you cut the last 6 minutes of titles and first minute of studio information then the post image converter file will be 118mb, which will fit on a 128 stick fine.
Good luck, this may not be the perfect solution but i've been showing off around the office with my matrix on a stick for the poast week and have probably sold half a dozen nx's for Sony.... |

| Let me 2nd the virtualdub option. Forget making an MPEG1, you just dont have to. The only problem the image converter has is with AUDIO codecs. Run your DIVX file thru VirtualDub and on the video choose direct stream copy and on the audio choose full processing and PCM <no compression> This works EVERY time on ANY codec you have installed...
