| HELP!!!!!My TH55 is doing something very weird! It froze up on me after trying to send an audible book to my memory stick. (this has happened before and all I have to do is reset the device) This time, when I tried to reset, it got stuck on the 'PALM POWERED' screen and won't move. I cannot turn it off. It will not allow me to reset...not even a hard reset. Does anyone out there know what's going on? |

Define hard reset.

| how do you send the audible book to ms? I never successfully send anything through hotsynch to ms. I either use smbmate to copy over or use the cable and have the th as ms reader. |

| joker123, when u double click the prc and pdb files, it is set for hotsync in Palm Desktop. So open Palm Desktop and click on "Install" which call up the Install Tool. There you can change the destination to expansion card. But then it will install it in PALM/Launcher.
If you want it in some other directories, you could try using Pilot Install (a freeware). Just remember not to launch Palm Desktop when you are hotsyncing with Pilot Install or vice versa. I think it crash my laptop last time. |

| Have you tried calling up Sony Clie technical support? They should help you get back on your feet. I believe this tech support is free for the first year of purchase. It has helped me greatly in the past. You just have to be patient and follow all the automated prompts which eventually lead up to a live technical assistant. Good luck!

| I emailed Sony support last night and they emailed me back with:
"We suggest you to keep the Clie like this till the battery drains out.
Charge the Clie properly and then try powering on. If the issue
persists, please contact our CLIE Handheld Customer Information Service
Center. This will allow our live telephone support technicians to diagnose
your issue further. For U.S. customers we are available toll-free at
877-760-SONY (7669), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From inside Canada,
please call us toll-free at 866-557-SONY (7669). If you are outside the
U.S. or Canada, you may contact us at 239-768-7676."
So I am waiting for the battery to drain.
As Far as Audible books, you don't have to hotsync to the Memorystick. When you are set up with Audible, it works more like Data Import...the Memorystick becomes a removal storage device. Its very cool.
Wish me luck...I've never had to do anything like this before. It's like being asked to sacrifice my son...I have to have faith. |

| This happened to me too! However, it happened when I kept on trying to reset the TH55 because it won't allow me past the security screen. I just got a Palm Powered logo. I cannot reset it normally but I can power it off. However when I turn it on, the logo's still there.
I did several cold (hold down left back button + reset) and hard reset (pull down power and hold + reset) until finally the cold reset worked! I turned off security settings and from there did a normal reset. |

| Sony reply is very typical... BTW from your description I would not tell it is a hardware problem, but of course it could be.
As soon as the battery drains do not hotsync or install anything, just try if the clie works, if it does I doubt it is a HW issue, there dozens of good reasons why the Audible book could conflict and I am afraid Sony does not really care of them.

| Mine did the sem thing the day I bought it. I hotsynced all my apps. Then said I needed to reset. So I did. Then It froze on the palm powered screen. I did a soft reset and it fixed it. But now my TH55 hangs sometimes on hotsyncs.

This is one downside about the TH55's awesome battery life
And if anyone makes a 'Use the Source' joke I will fart in their general direction! |
