Unhappy Couldn't connect at an Omni Hotel. :(

It's a real bummer, but when I was staying at the Omni Downtown in Austin, TX, I couldn't use the free WIFI access because of a continuing "Incorrect Network Settings" error when I tried to connect to a web page.
When I called Omni's Netowrk customer service, they couldn't help either.

Somehow I couldn't talk them into restarting the hotel's server, go figure.
..or updating the hotel's router firmware. The two fixes that probably would have worked.

No problems on my end, as I could connect in every airport along the way as well as my home and other connections.

Bummer. I spent 6 days there.

I stayed at the Austin Omni last year. My NX-70V worked after tech support 'poked a hole' in their network.

We tried that, but I don't have any utils to tell me the info he needed.

What apps will tell you stuff like your IP address and other pertinent net info?

(I can't fault the hotel chain for trying. At least they had tech support!)

Talking CLIE NetMon

Have you tried NetMon? It's a free VG skin that tells you all of that info, including IP address, MAC Address, Gateway, DNS, Link Speed, SSID, etc.

You can download it below:

File Type: zip CLIENetMon.zip (7.2 KB, 168 views)

Wow!
If I would have had this information available at the time I'm sure Tech support and I could have worked everything out.

File this one under disturbingly cool.

Thank you for the tip and the link!

I guess I'm gonna go look up silk plug-ins too!
