[NZ90] Pelaca's CF Storage Drivers and Data Import : CF is not formatted.

Please help !

When I open the CF drive ( F: ), Windows XP tells the drive is not formatted. Unfortunately, it cannot format it. Data Import is set to CF.
I use :
-- CF Utility 1.0.7 (CF storage (hacked) only)
-- MS Pro drivers are installed on Clié (NZ90 / Europe Version)
-- Sony USB Mass Storage (CF) drivers version is 1.0.1215.0 (10/31/2001).

I don’t know if I use the right driver. I’ve installed the Windows drivers included in the CFUtility package but I don’t know where the drivers are installed because the C:\Program Files\Sony\CLIE SCSI Driver contains only unistall.exe file. Windows installs the drivers from the clut0143.inf file located in the c:\windows\inf directory.

The CF Card is a Canon (8MB). Acording to Clie Card Info program, the card is a SDF SunDisk. The CF drivers work great. MacFile displays the content of the CF Card... AcidImage can show the pictures stored in the CF card.

When the MS is removed, it doesn't work too.

Windows XP (SP1) browses the MS fine.

I've try with a Windows 2000 (SP3). I got the same error

Pelaca helped me (via Private message). :
-- I’ve tried another Card (PQI 128 MB) : It doesn’t work too. But this card doesn’t work at all on my Clié
-- I’ve reformatted the Canon CF Card on Clie Card Info program
-- I’ve reinstalled MSPro Patch (the European patch MSPRO_NZ90.PRC and then the US MSPRONZ90_ENUS.PRC). With the US drivers, Data Import displays “No memorystick detected!”
-- I’ve installed the CF Storage drivers (hacked), then I’ve tried the CF Storage drivers (not hacked).

Any idea ?

Please help… And thanks to Pelaca for his help

Thank you very much

Regards

Denony

PS: MS Import was not installed on the PC.

Have you tried to reformat the card as FAT and NOT FAT 32? Since FAT32 can't be read by any clie.

Well it could be that this card just won't work....Do you have MS Export installed on your system? Have you tried to uninstall the HardWare and reinstall it? Go to device manager, into the USB protocols, and connect the device using Dataimport....does something pop up? it should say like CLIE USB MASS STORAGE (CF), right click and uninstall, then disconnect the dataimport. Now try reinstalling the SCSI drivers. Then reconnect dataimport and re-set it up and see what happens

Yes, I’ve tried to re-install the CLIE USB MASS STORAGE (CF). I’ve read the tips about that in the others topics. My PC is new : MS Import/Export was not installed. Is it possible that the 2 cards are not compatible with Data Import although they works fine with the CF storage drivers (I mean Clié can read and write on the CF card).

There is a Dan-Elec 128 MB in a local store. Do you know if Data Import works great with this card ?

Thanks you Tray.

Hmm, that is possible that the cards just won't work the drivers - i mean they are not 100% tested with all cards out there. I've never heard of Dan-Elec card...so i'm not sure there. I use Viking. They always work, and Dell has some good deals on the mat times. Like i got my 512 MB CF card for 90 bucks using coupons/25% software discounts at the dell outlet store and it works 100%.....You can try it out, and if it doesn't work, would their return policy allow you to return it?

Hi Tray.

It’s not easy for me to buy a CF card in the US. I live in Europe. I’ll try to buy a card which is listed in the Pelaca’s CF Drivers compatibles cards (I know where I can buy a SanDisk 128 MB card). I’ll try it and if it doesn’t work, I’ll return it. I’m not optiminist about this new card because my 2 cards don’t work.

Two guys have the same problem (CF is not formatted) is the CliéSource forum. I send them an e-mail this morning. I hope they have solve this silly problem.

Thanks for you help.

Europe, eh? All i know is that expansys.uk or whatever the site is has almost everything that america does, and they probably have the right cards as well.

Good luck!

Yes, the Dan-Elec card should work with Data Import as there have been others using it, not many, but some.

It's all too easy to hose up the desktop PC's USB drivers if things are not followed very closely. Unfortunately, the fix may not be so easy. If you tried to use Data/MS Import without installing Data/MS export first, then you may have messed up the driver, especially Windows XP. Addtionally, some have had issues with the MSBlaster and Sobig viruses lately.

Hi there,

I tried a SanDisk 128 MB, and I get the silly message “F: is not formatted” SanDisk 128 MB is listed in the compatible CF cards list.

Data Export ?
Data Export is not included in the Pelac’s CFUtility package Where can I download it ? Thank you.

By the way :

1. Do you know if the CF Storage drivers are compatible with European NZ90 models (especially with the English/German/French model)

2. Do you know if the MS Pro drivers (file MSPRO_NZ90.PRC from CliePlazza UK) which come with the European Model is fully compatible with Data Import ? I know that the US MSPro drivers are different (MSPRONZ90_ENUS.PRG file). PRC sizes are fifferents. I tried the US drivers with my European NZ90. Unfortunately DataImport says "No Memorystick detected!" when I select CF and press Connect. When European MSPro drivers are loaded (US drivers are removed wih a Hard Reset), DataImport doesn't show this message.

3. Are the Clie SCSI drivers for Windows 1.00.1215.0 are region (US / Europe /…) dependent? If yes, where can I download the European drivers. Where are they installed ?

4. Same question about Data Import ?

5. Finally : Where can I download the Data Export utility.

Thank you very much

Sincerely

Denony

Note : I use a Windows XP (SP1) PC and a Windows 2000 (SP3) PC.

The last time I had looked, it was included in the package. Concerning, Data/MS Import and Data/MS Export. The difference is data recognizes more than one card, be it Import or Export. MS Import or Export are singular, not multiple card.

Data Import gets installed on the Clie, Data Export gets installed on the PC. There can multiple issues as to how the desktop PC got messed up. Some have had difficulty when a new printer, card reader, or an external disk drive were installed. It would inhibit anything new being added. If the original MS Export was installed and not removed first, before Data Export was installed. Or you tried to use MS/Data Import without installing the driver first. In order to install, all traces of the old driver has to be removed first. In Windows XP, the software driver for USB has to be installed first, before the device is plugged or attempting to use it. Then it creates a mess, because Windows tried to install a driver that wasn't there and put something else in it's place that won't work. Sony will tell you to reinstall the operating system. You might be able to fix it by removing the USB device controller in the device manager and let Windows rebuild it.

I’ve just installed the Clié SCSI Drivers included in the CFUtility 1.0.7 (I’ve run the setup.exe located in the CFUtility\Windows Dirver\ folder).

The PC runs with Windows 2000 (SP2). The PC has no Clié prgram / Clié drivers installed at all.

I’ve got the same silly error : F: is not formatted !

Where can I download the DataExport program ? The CFUtility 1.0.7 include only DataImport.PRC file.

Thank you

I posted my about my issue with Data Import in another forum (Palmattitude). Unfortunately, they don’t want to help me : a moderator told me that the the Pelaca’s CF driver for NZ90 is illegal (it comes from NX73/NX80 ROM).

When Sony will release official CF driver for NZ90 ? Please Mr Sony !

The Windows Data Export driver is in the setup.exe in the CF Utility download.

It has been documented in one of these threads somewhere.

Unfortunately, Sony will not release any driver for the NZ90 that will use Sony's multimedia apps.
