| NR70V: How do you re-flash an NR70V ROM? OK, I have an NR70V that has had a number of the core PIM apps removed using JackSprat, and I don't have backups. I was able to download a ROM file from the Sony Developer site and would like to simply re-flash the ROM into the NR70V. Anyone know how to do this?
I tried taking individual apps from the ROM file (copied them out using POSE) loading them on the NR70V, and then tried to use JackFlash to move them back into Flash, but it says that they already exist. But they don't, because JackSprat removed them!
All I want to do is take a complete ROM file and re-flash it into the NR70V. I could do this with my old Palm iii and Palm Vx. Is there any way to do this on an NR70V?
Thanks!!!

| You got the rom! Lucky you. I've just been to the developer site and found new subscriptions are nolonger allowed "As a follow up to Sony's recent decision to reassess the direction of the conventional PDA market!"
Oh well. Just wasted some cash on replacing the charager etc as well.
Did you find out how to flash the rom yet BTW? I keep reading it can be doen with Jackflash, but havent seen any indication of how to do it yet. |

| I've reflashed mine now! Seems you need a rom in JackFlash format and a copy of FlashOS.
I found both at MrTAXI |

| Well, I completely hosed things. I loaded the ROM backup files and used the FlashOS app to write the image, and it resulted in a non-bootable NR70. It warned me that internal memory would be erased and that the device would be reset. I tapped OK and it shows a "Writing - 3 minutes" dialog and then it did a hard reset asking me if I wanted to erase all memory. I hit the "Up" arrow button to confirm, and the "Palm" logo came up and just hung. After several minutes (like 30 minutes later) it was in the same state. Hitting reset yielded the same thing. If I tried a hard reset, I would get the "yes" "no" confirmation screen, but regardless of what I chose, it always hangs.
So, it looks like it's now a paperweight. The good news is that it's still under extended warranty with Best Buy, so I may be able to have THEM fix it. We'll see...
Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

| Have you tried contacting Brayder? Seems like they would have a fall back position for their customers that hose their PDA's ROM related to using Jack Sprat, and don't have useable backups.
