Thinking of selling my TH55 E1 - UPDATE YES IT'S FOR SALE

I am seriously thinking of selling my TH55 E1 (UK model with WiFi and Bluetooth), it would come complete with

1) 3 x 128MB memory sticks (all Sony)
2) A Brando Leather flip case (although I have misplaced the belt clip)
3) A Brando Screen protector
4) A set of hinge plugs to fill thise horrid holes.
5) A car charger that plugs into a standard cigerrette lighter socket.

All boxed in original condition as it's only a few months old.

Reason for sale : The TH55 is an excellent PDA (having gone through many in the past both Palm and Sony I genuinly like this the best) however I have a problem with it for a specific purpose I require which is that I recently bought a Navman GPS and I cannot get the thing to work properly (search the forums for my other posts if you want the details).
I am convinced it is because of the Sony variable processor although neither Sony nor Navman apprear to be able to help. What I do think is that the Palm T3 (sorry is there a swearbox around) is better supported in this area and hence am looking to downgrade to one.

Anyone interested ? I am UK based but don't have an issue shipping provided you pay the postage/insurance etc.
I haven't trawled ebay etc. yet to see what the market rate is and I wont be giving it away but, I do expect to have to compromise on the price compared to what I paid for it !

BTW - If you have a T3 and fancy a change I'd be interested in swapping

I'm assuming your using the:

Navman GPS 4460
Wireless
for PalmOS® 5.0

Wireless Bluetooth™ GPS Receiver with SmartST™ V1.30 Navigation Software for PalmOS® 5.0

Complete wireless GPS navigation for the Bluetooth™ enabled palmOne™ T2 / T3 Handhelds and the latest Sony Cliés comes complete with the advanced functionality of Navman SmartST™ software.

I doubt the Sony HE processor would be the culprit, but granted GPS applications are processor intensive. People are having problems with Bluetooth GPS receivers in general. A wired receiver would be the way to go.

I have a Sony PEGA-CC5 cradle that I will install in my car. I'm hoping to avoid all the Bluetooth issues.

Have you tried different mapping software?

Hi Sony Boy, you are correct, it is the Nvman 4460. I haven't tried other s/w although looking in the forums suggests that it will be no better. It could be a 'function' of BT but what has led me to believe that it is the PDA is that failures usually happen with more complicated (longer or more routes available) calculations. For example I can go >100 miles on a motorway all OK but as soon as I turn off and require a direction the connection fails. My guess is that suddenly the processor is required to work harder and cannot cope. All conjecture and I may be totally wrong but I have T£ owning friends without the issue.

I assume you saw this already:

http://www.navman.com/assets/person...i11_FAQ_web.pdf

and tried this:

http://www.navman-europe.com/suppor...AA005430&faq=69

I apologize if you have seen this already.

What I can't understand is why have the TH55 listed as a supported device if you can't utilize full functionality of the 4460.

Why isn't Navman more responsive to your problem?

Have you tried hard resetting the TH55 and loading nothing but your GPS software and other necessary drivers for the application?

Thanks for the links Sony Boy although sadly I have already read them (and updated the s/w. I spoke to Navman on the phone the weekend I received the unit and although they tried to be helpful there wasn't a resolution. About 1 week after sending a form from their website I received a response suggesting I install the wireless upgrade (WHY? IT'S BLUETOOTH !!!!!!!) which I did anyway to no avail - suprise suprise. I requested that they confirm the issue would be resolved as if not I wanted to return the unit to them as unfit for purpose, the response was that it did work but I was experiencing teething problems as 'all software does'.

I have sent them thismorning all the information I can possibly think of regarding configuration, situations when it has failed, 'other influences', I am keeping my fingers crossed. But am not holding out too much hope.

To the guys that have PMed me, thank you - I don't know why but I cant read your msg's from work (although I can see the forum ????) - I will try and read tonight and get back to you.
