Screen movement...?

With your NZ90 closed with the screen not exposed how much can you move your screen from side to side? How about with the screen in the open position and with the screen in the exposed folded down position? I'm trying to get a feel of what is normal and what is not. Thanks in advance.

Interesting question in that I've been considering the exact same one ever since I received my NZ back from Sony service a while back.

With mine, when the screen is opened out in the open-clamshell position, its locked tight (no side movement). It should be this way, because of the 4 locking points in this screen mode (there are 2 plastic 'locks', one on each outer edge between the screen and body, and 2 metal 'guides' closer to the pivot, one on each side).

As for when it's in the folded/exposed position, well, firstly, I'd swear it's a little looser since Sony had their hands on it; if I rock the screen sideways, I get around 1 - 2 % of movement I'd reckon (or put differently, the distance it moves is around the length of the stylus tip - that little 'bump' at the business end of the stylus that contacts the screen that is....). Interestingly, its not just moving at the pivot of the screen but rather the camera assembly moves a little along with the screen... The same goes when the unit is folded closed with the screen facing inward.

Hope this helps ... my explanation doesn't read to well, now I look back at it

regards,
Darren.

Darren, thanks for your reply. Mine is the same way except my camera base doesn't move...it's rock solid. The screen moves about the distance of the stylus tip in all directions, back and forth and side to side. It doesn't move unless I push it with enough force. I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it. Just making sure my trusty device is normal
