| I used the Vendor ID (1356) and Product ID (361) as described in Post #18, and it works great. My TJ35 now syncs and I have my T615C data transferred to my new TJ35. Thanks for all the help. |

| Although I was able to hotsync my TJ35, I am now having a problem that when I enter new data into the address book or an auto mileage program (KarKare 2), I get the following error: "Unexpected error. [-1]" I have to either reboot or logoff and then it "hotsyncs" fine. Any thoughts as to why? But more importantly, how to fix?
Update: I discovered that it is not after entering new data, it appears to be random. But closing Palm desktop does not help nor does a soft reset. I have to either logoff or reboot. This is very annoying. Still looking for HELP.

| I have discovered that if I have Classic running and try to hotsync, then I get the [-1] error. But if I shut down Classic, then I can sync. Any thoughts as to why and how to fix?
I am running 10.3.3 on the internal hard drive for my Pismo. If I boot with my expansion bay hard drive which is running 10.3.5, I don't even get the [-1] error if Classic is running. Nothing happens. But without Classic, all is fine and I can hotsync. So Classic is the problem. I don't know if it is Classic and Palmdesktop 4.2.1 or Classic and the TJ35. All help would be greatly appreciated.

| I think this is a related matter. Under MacOS 9 running Virtual PC 6 and Windoz 98 I was able to operate my Clie UX-50 with the desktop in the windows environment without problem and happily install software on Clie via .exe files.
Now I have migrated to 10.3.5 and under similar configuration, I find that the clie simply can't / won't connect with the windows desktop. There is disk activity and also the PDA shows up for a time under USB devices in Virtual PC, then the clie disconnects. The same happens even if I use windows XP or 2000 on the Mac Via Virt PC.
All thoughts, suggestions and advice on making Clie UX50 connect via VPC and windows under MacOS X 10.3.5 most gratefully received. |

| The problem has to do with the way OS X handles USB devices. Basically everytime you try to sync with VPC, OS X interrupts and tries to establish its own connection with your handheld. Its possible that that VPC 7 may have solved this problem but, as far as I know the only devices that work with VPC via USB are flash card readers and input devices i.e. keyboards. While perhaps not as efficient, any files you create for, or wish to transfer to, your UX-50 can simply be copied out of VPC to your Mac OS X Palm User directory for transfer via hotsync to your handheld. Better yet, use SMBmate, if you have a wifi card, and transfer files straight to your handhald wirelessly. |

#42 | | Guest | First of all, thanks for Nickms' effort and my TJ35 can hotsync with my Mac through Palm Desktop now.
I am now just wondering if I can mount my clie as a card reader for MS. I have try Card Export II but it does not work for TJ35. What I think is we can amend the plist for the USB mass storage driver in Mac such that we can mount the Clie to the Mac and then run MS Import on Clie to act as a flash drive. As USB/SICS driver is required for Windows to run MS Import, I think a similar tirck will work for Mac. I have try it on my Mac but I can't get it done.
Although I know that I can buy a cheap card reader for that purpose, I just think that it should work by just adding USB ID in Mac. Actually I did take a look at Mac's developer page on creating USB driver but it is really too difficult for me.
I also cannot use MissingSync as I am still running 10.1.5.

#43 | | Guest | Thanks for saving me $30 After installing Palm Desktop/HotSync on my G5 Mac, which had been upgraded to Tiger (OS X 10.4), I tried synching my sony clie PEG-S360 using a USB connection (only choice on this clie). I would launch HotSync from the Clie, or the Mac or both, but never managed to establish communication between the devices.
After trying this and that I came across this discussion. As soon as I got the USB probe to find the clie HotSync worked!
Somehow when the USB probe found the clie, it put the information about it in the right database, whatever and wherever that is (but who cares, it works!)
I just did the same with this clie and my laptop mac (powerbook, a G4 running Panther), and it worked too.
Don't waste $30 on Missingsynk!

| Sony Clie T615C works with Tiger! Just an FYI for whoever cares...
If you install the newest palm desktop 4.2.1 the T615C will sync via hotsync or isync w/o the missing sync.
Save your $30...
If you had missing sync installed you will have to uninstall it, then install the palm desktop, and you should be good to go. I hope this helps somebody. |

#45 | | Guest | To clarify... Alright, thanks to the advice here, I got my TH55 syncing with my iBook under Tiger with very little effort. iSync works fine, things get shuttled between iCal and my palm organizer.
Now, has anyone gotten the memstick to mount without the MissingSync software? I've gotten inklings that some of you may have, but my reading comprehension is at an all-time low after three straight days of installing software
Just as a shot in the dark, I plugged my TH55 in and tried the Data Import tool, but it quickly fails with a message to 'Check connection with host'.
Thanks to the combined effort of all here in getting this to work!
