Surprise inside Snails for Palm OS 5!!!

I discovered it by accident: just clicked on Snails .prc while was in WinRAR. You can see the result on screenshot .

The surprise is that whole game is ZIP archive. So how does it work on PDA?

A prc is a collection of resources anyway. It's not a zip file.

It's probably doing something similar like FlyZip - have an executable header and have the rest of the data stored in ZIP format after.

Hmmm - I just tried to open a couple .prc files in WinRAR and WinZip, and both proggies told me they were files they don't know about. Is this only for -some- .prc's?

Yes, only for those encoded as specified above by Cyker.

WinRAR probably recognizes a format that is similar to the exec/encode format used in this particular game - or part of it is, in fact, Zip/RARed ...

Someone open it on the Palm with RsrcEdit and see what resources show up - I'll do it when I get home if no one else has ...

Ahh yeah Zeke - I forgot to clarify that

I suspect the PRC has a standard Palm program header, with maybe a few other bits, and then the rest of it is one big-arse data segment which is actually an embedded ZIP-format file structure.

This is kinda how Self-extracting ZIP files are laid out, and a lot of programs have embedded data structures in themselves like this too.
