| Doom Port - Why hasn't? Just out of major curiosity, why has this awesome game been ported to the Palm "world" yet? The devices are now more than powerful enough to run the game, and there are enough memory options to allow for the various map sizes. Navigation is simply forward, back, left or right, and fire, switch weaps.
Pretty simple, yet no one has done this yet. What's going on? |

I guess it must still be in development. I don't see where to download it anywhere.
I wonder if the game is gonna be free or not. It doesnt' seem so. I'm not sure what kind of open source license Doom is under, but hopefully, if anyone made changes to it, their new code would have to be free as well. |

| For the Zodiac, although apparently not yet for the rest of the palm platform, there will soon be Doom II: http://www.tapwave.com/titles/titles_doom2.asp
This is technically less advanced as far as '3d' engine goes, since Doom/DoomII use raycasting technology to fake 3d, and from what I can tell of Deity it actually attempts to use polygonal 3d technology (hence its claim to use 3d for both world and objects/enemies), but for people with Zodiacs like me I can't wait for the DoomII port to be finally released. I really loved DoomII and still play it whenever I get a chance, so I'm sure i'll play it a lot on my Zod (plus deity didn't run on my Zodiac right anyway, hehe)
Know this probably wasn't useful for anyone without a zodiac, but I know id software open sourced doom so anyone with enough savvy and time on their hands could probably port it to other sufficiently advanced hardware like the clies or the new palmone devices probably.
