Believe it or not, I still use the m100. Despite its tiny 2mb memory, I've got an email program, Word to Go, several hacks, a foldable keyboard and a bunch of small games. That and the PIM stuff is all I need... although I would like to add a universal remote program (but don't wanna pay for it) and will likely upgrade when I can get a wi-fi capable web-browsing model and a collapsible keyboard secondhand. Google on the go! (drool)

Today I received a palm pilot Professional. There is no beaming capability but it has a roaring 960k memory (using a memory program since menu doesn't give info).

Remember the battery door that opens easy to permit two AAA batteries? There is another door to give you access to a memory board like laptops have!

Everything is version 2.0 and with the date 1997. Speaking of dates, trying to set the month in January is almost impossible for some strange reason.

There are 12 programs, has a left side contrast rotary dial, the imfamous ultra green on button and the old exposed 10 gold plated pin port on the bottom.

There are two sounds, the alarm and the function/game chirp.

The black and white screen is imaculant, but I don't mind scratching up this baby!

BTW the stylus is a solid plastic piece, no reset slim pin!

The memory board could be replaced/upgraded; Palm's own 2MB card with IR and OS 3 (Flash ROM, too!) came with a new memory card cover with the IR window, and TRG made an 8MB card. I can't remember if it was Palm or TRG that made a pager card with 8MB of RAM. I think the TRG cards required you to provide a ROM image, too.

The screen on the non-backlit Pilot 1000 and 5000 seemed a bit easier to read (except in the dark) than the PalmPilot Personal and Professional's screen. I still have my Pilot 1000, but the screen is badly cracked--I fumbled it while showing off to a salesman many years ago, and it hit a terrazzo floor from about 2 feet up. The battery cover and batteries went one way, the memory card cover went another way, and I had an excuse to buy a PalmPilot Personal.

The funny thing is that you can still get to the Palm OS 1.0 app launcher with those "newer" Palms. Install Launcher III or some other third-party launcher, then delete it without first disabling it. People used to freak out over that--the Applications app (?!) would get you to the newer launcher with the picklist, but the silkscreen button would launch the old single-screen launcher with the heavy black border. (The cure was to reinstall the third-party launcher, then disable it and delete it.)

Meanwhile I will be needing the old type hot sync cord (given away) and playing girafe learning the old grafiti style writing again.

I wonder if anyone is interested in having another palm pilot? (hopefully the postage wouldn't be like sending to Australia in which I paid around $20)

I still have my Palm Pilot Professional! I do not keep batteries in it. It has 2 MB of RAM and is in pristine condition. I also have the original cradle and leather case. Although I never used it, I have the Franklin apps suite, too. What a great device! I also have recovered my S320 (had Chris S. repair it), my NR70V is still my entertainment PDA and of course, my TX. I was unable to recover my Palm IIIc. The second owner ditched it a long time ago.
Ahh, history.

I upgraded my Palm Pilot Pro long ago; it's now being used by a carpenter/contractor friend.
I still use my Palm IIIxe for any cold weather camping (lithium AAA cells work where ordinary alkaline batteries fail in very cold conditions). I use my Visor Edge routinely -- though I've never yet tried using the modem that fits onto it.

It's about time I replaced the Visor Edge battery, I wonder if anyone still makes fresh batteries for it? I never did get its memory expanded, either, come to think of it.

I recently bought a second hand Palm Pilot Personal for a really unexpensive price. I use it to control my AR8600 radio scanner, with a program I made myself with NSBasic. It's very useful! I can change reception mode, tuning step and other settings with a single tap.

My first Palm device was a IIIxe. After using it for several years, it finally was dropped one too many times, and it quit working. I was a little short of cash at the time, so I bought a Zire 21. The Z21 was a piece of junk - lots of trouble with the digitizer, but I knew it was bottom-of-the-line when I bought it.

I then asked for and received a Tungsten E2 for Christmas a few years ago. I was initially very impressed with the E2, love it's newer more intuitive handwriting recognition, love the nicer screen, love the colors, etc. However, after living with it for a while I came to be very frustrated over it's battery charging problems. So many times when it wouldn't turn on, and couldn't be made to charge.

I finally realized that the IIIxe did everything I really needed (and two AAA batteries last for six or eight weeks, and when they start to go low you just stop at the closest stop-n-rob and buy some more), so I bought a refurbed one through the 'net. I converted back to the IIIxe and am content - so content that I bought another IIIxe as a spare for when this on croaks!

Using a TRG Pro at the moment after using a Palm IIIx for several years.
The CF extention slot is a great thing - I'm looking to buy a Wi-Fi device for it. Tried with a borowed D-Link device and it worked nice

I still have plans for my m100. Rock solid device. I'm gonna make some personalized programs or something. I love the simplicity of it. Not buggy, dead-on responsive. Amazing what a creative mind can squeeze out of 2MB to boot.

I love my TX for multimedia purposes, connectivity, etc, etc...but the price of all the gadgetry is a little more buggy, a little less reliable. They both have their place. In my little kingdom of Palms.
