TH55 Turns on, then FREEZES, then runs battery to zero

I'm not sure what's going on... but sometime in the middle of the night my CLIE keeps turning on, and STAYING on. It's FROZEN and I have to run the battery to zero and do a backup to get it back.

I'm using BackupBuddy - but it is only set to do a backup at 6:40 am every day and when I turn it off. So I'm not sure why it would be turning on in the middle of the night for no reason.

Anyone have a similar issue?

best to do a complete reinstall - one prog at a time and see which one does it.

I know its ALOT of hassle but unless you have an idea what it might be a complete reinstall/hard reset maybe the only option - it has to be software problem

Learn to use hard reset.

After pushing the pin in the back, hold the on button for a little bit while the Clie is restarting. Release the On button and you should have an option to erase everything.

I am having a similar situation, only mine happens during the day, between 12 and 12:30. It also gets very warm, which is how I first noticed it, felt it through my shirt pocket. The battery drains rather rapidly as well. I understand that it may be related to the Clie Organizer software, and just installed the update from the Sony site. Mine only just started in the past couple of days, and the only thing I am doing differntly is using the Clie Launcher instead of the Standard Palm OS desktop view. Mine is also a UK version, which I don't think makes a difference except for the BT function.

Hi,

try this thread:

-- solved the same problem for me like a charm and without the hassles of a hard reset.

Cheers, GB
