#1 | | Guest | NetFront 3.0 or 3.1 What is your experience with NetFront 3.0 and 3.1? Which one will work best on the TG50 with respect to stability and download speed? Also, is there a performance issue with either one of them accessing from the MS (512 Pro) using ZLauncher? | |

| I haven't tested them extensively, but I'm guessing that NetFront 3.1 is faster. Also, if I remember correctly, NetFront 3.1 could load more of ClieSource's front page than 3.0 could. 3.0 would give me a "page too large" error I recall.
Of course, one would expect 3.1 to be better. It's newer lol But as for actual tried and tested facts, I don't know. Still waiting for my WiFi memory stick... Till then, I've only tested it with a USB connection, so not very much.

| NF 3.1 is excellent. It loads faster, has less page too large errors, and has more viewing options.
Since neither is in the TG50 ROM, there are basically no reasons to go with 3.0. |

| Oh, I have it stored in RAM. But I imagine it would run fine from MS, besides the loading time (it's a pretty big app). |

| I'll second madmaxmedia's comments. NF 3.1 is great--it's like a new browser. It's far more stable than 3.0 with many more views, and is much, much faster. I don't use ZLauncher, so I can't comment on that aspect.

| There's a locked thread somewhere in the TG50 forums with a link to where you can get NetFront 3.1.
When you get it, you must use the OS5 McFile beta version to copy it from your memory stick to your internal memory. It will not HotSync, and most programs such as Clie Files and Filez have problems copying it over. (Will fail with an error).

| infusia,
Yah, I got errors like that too. The other locked thread about this did not contain any globally successful methods to do this. However, I learned from enderenya (another helpful ClieSource member) that McFile version 2.2 beta works. I tried out this suggestion, and it worked for me. Filez didn't work for me, Clie Files didn't work. McFile 2.2b did. Don't know why, but it did.
Load that program into your Clie and use it (like any other file manager) to copy NetFront 3.1 over from your memory stick. It should work.

| Is it possible to run Netfront 3.1 from the memory stick? I don't have enough memory free, but I do have PowerRun |

| Netfront doesn't work from the memory stick. The only one I've found that works from the memory stick with PowerRun or Zlauncher is the WebPro browser.
You would need the memory free anyway. I was lucky enough to have a TG50 with flashROM which gave me a few MB extra to put NF3.1 in. It's pretty rough having only 11MB RAM on the TG50... it certainly feels good to have nearly 3 times that with the TH55/E
I would recommend using PowerRun for more of your other applications currently in RAM instead. |
