I finally made a decision!

Here in Canada the TH55 is $690 Can including tax. After seeing the incredible deal through Office Depot in the US, I ordered it and am having it sent to my cousin in NYC who will be bringing it to me in three weeks. Including $20 coupon code and $100 rebate it will cost me $418 Can!! I tried to order it yesterday and I was told it was no longer available and I was devastated, however I persevered and today it was available again.

I had a look at the new Zire 72 during my lunch hour today and had almost decided to get it because I liked the better camera, IR range for OmniRemote, etc. However, I have no need for bluetooth and feel that WiFi will be more useful for me. Both units have voice recorders but after reading some initial reviews on the 72, I don't think the battery life will be as good.

In any event, I finally stopped waffling, made a decision, and thankfully got it at a great price.

Go for it!
Sounds like a good decision, but then again I'm biased.

I can't quite reconcile the Fisher-Price Blue of the Zire's either.

lol...I thought the same thing last night about the blue color when I saw it...Actually I thought it looked like one of those V-Tech toy laptops. Can't take a piece of technology seriously when it looks like that!

Why is everyone so concerned about the color/look of a device? Isn't function and quality of construction far more important than looks?

I've become a hires+ snob. I won't even consider a 320x320 screen. For me the TH55 is a near perfect PDA.

No, its not the functionality that matters, its how cool it looks. If it doesn't look cool then I don't care if it can teleport me to different points on the globe, I want a cool looking device.

The functionality certainly matters, but looks do, too. I wouldn't buy a plasma tv or a stereo receiver that was that blue color no matter how good the quality of construction was. Tech devices should be silver or black, period.

Doesn't the TH55 look like the Star Trek communicator? If it had the brass cover with hole in it, the TH55 would capture best in show at the next 10 Trek conventions. BTW, I love the TH55 all the more for it but I can understand if someone does not buy the TH55 because of the obvious similarity.

I take function into consideration, and then I add look of device, it has to be Sexy, it has to be Clie If I didn't care too much for looks, I would have bought a Palm T3 instead of TH55, but the T3 doesn't look good enough for me to have ^_^

That's why I have a TH55, I wanted performance AND good looks.

For me it's perfect. Better than any other before.

And yes, it's even more treklike than any before too, and why the heck not?
This future stuff is what I signed up for back in 3rd grade!

I don't have a flying car, or a jetpack, but by God I've got my handheld computer!

(I'm holding out for that teleport feature though.)

Congratulations on your purchase! You've hit upon one of my pet peeves; that being that prices in Canada are much higher than they should be given the currency exchange rate and the taxes. I strongly advocate that people order from the U.S. to save some cash.
