| Hehe. MrNako, the system won't let me give you more rep. until I give someone else a point. I get this message:
"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to MrNako again."
Thanks for the link though! |

| As much as we all love MrNako and Cliepet, Im going to get back to the subject, if no-one minds.
Underclock seems to work fine on my TH-55. With Speedy 4.1 I get:
38-39 when set to 32mhz
77-78 when set to 64mhz
116 when set to 96mhz
147-151 when set to 123mhz
149-150 when set on auto
So, it does appear to work. As far as Audioplayer goes, it seems it processes separately from the main processor, so if hold mode lowers the speed of the main processor to whatever is needed, it should underclock itself. Audioplayer plays flawlessly, but as it has been said, pockettunes uses the main processor, and so it cant handle lowering the speed to 32. Heres a question, Why dont they code PT to use the built in mp3 decoder when possible, so we could get longer playtimes?

Exactly. The MP3 decoding is done in the TEAK DSP, separate from the main CPU.

The DSP version of the MP3 decoder is not as general as the 3rd party PocketTunes/AeroTunes/MMPlayer software decoders. The known problems with the AudioPlayer not playing VBR or funny sample rate MP3s are because of these limitations.
It is possible to write a new user interface to the existing audio player (ie. like FullMoviePlayer does for movies), but that's only a small portion of why people use PocketTunes (or other 3rd party players). It would have the same limitations (ie. CBR not VBR)
FWIW: If all your music is in proper CBR format, and you don't need features like streaming, I recommend sticking to the built in AudioPlayer, perhaps with AlbumSwap to help with organization. Amazing play times on the TH, and even longer on the VZ. |

| Holy zombie threads Batman! This is one old thread!
Mmm, anyway CliePet, I did find an app that alters the CPU speed:
Clie Audio Player
When you do most stuff it is set to run at full speed, but when you start playing an MP3 it drops the CPU speed substantially - You can see this in how laggy the controls get.
However, doing anything else (Loading a DA, looking at the Battery dialog, exiting) will stick the CPU back to full speed again. |

| When I was talking about PT, I was thinking it would be nice to have a low power mode, that would obviously be in addition to the included codec, just so Clie users would have the option to switch to low power mode, and still use all of the album features of PT.

| Hey, if shadowmite from Treocentral can develop all those Treo 650 hacks, someone should be able to creat a landscape / portrait switching app. for the TH55, right? |

| Hi, I don't think that there will ever be landscape on the TH55 for one simple reason-speed. The T3 gets slower by about 50% when in landscape mode, because all graphics must be turned around....
There was a screen rotate hack on Palms like the IIIC already, but the slowdown I experienced there was incredible-with 160x160x8. But now think of 320x480x16, and the CPU isnt that much faster compared to screen data increase, and apps are way more demanding..
Just ym 2 cents tho... |

Technically possible. I don't think the PT folks would bother to do the extra work (this is only for the UX, TH and VZ CLIEs)
