| Umm... there are more polite ways to ask if your question might have been overlooked. A slightly less "in your face" and definitely more congenial method would have been to reply to your own post with the word *bump*. This puts it back at the top and gives someone else an opportunity to see what your question was... |

| Now, to answer your question. I don't think you can even compare the UX series to the TH. They are completely different units. I wouldn't even use the terms "upgrade" or "downgrade" when making the comparison. It all depends on the needs of the person buying the device. |

| The th is an:
upgrade from ux. Bigger screen, wifi, and the nice design.
upgrade from nx. no camshel, and more effecient processor. No cf or 1.3mp camera.
upgrade from tc. The tc is getting old, and will be replaced this spring. It has a much smaller screen, and no stereo sound. |

| Inomad,
Although I agree with all of your points as the features you mentioned are the ones most important to me as well, there are others who would argue the exact opposite:
downgrade from ux. Less memory, no keyboard, too simple of a design
downgrade from nx. no clamshell, slower processor. No 1.3 MP camera. No movie recorder.
So you see, the point can be argued from either side depending on what is important to you. That is why Sony comes out with different lines of Clie. I don't think anyone would argue that the NX-80 was an upgrade from an NX-70, but to compare a TH series with the UX series is impossible in a subjective world. |

| Does the TH55 include the audio "dongle" for player control like my nx80. The people @ Compusa & Best Buy were not interested in checking the box and I forgot to look for the side connecting port? Loved the heft & feel of it including the Jog dial but would miss my camera & CF slot with ux apps. |

#10 | | Guest | questions questions questions I currently own a palm 705... dead...I have been trying to decided what to buy.. Sony of course is the sleekest design... BUT...there is a lack of support from sonystyle.
I was looking at the TH-55, or the UX-50 (refurbished).
I read this thread and am now leaning to the TH-55 but many comments are more then 6 months old... any ideas/suggestions?
thanks!

| The TH-55 is probably the most read and discussed forum on 1src. I dont see how you couldnt find info on it. There may seem to be a lack of SonyStyle support, but there is still phone support from Sony (this is free, of course for normal problems). I called them once with a problem, and after giving them my info through their automated system I was immediately connected to a LIVE PERSON. He took me through the regular problem solvers, such as resets and the like, but suggested eventually that my wireless problem must have been with my router. They were right. They were very friendly and had no noticable accent. As for the TH-55, it is a great PDA, if you can find one. It actually looks like a pda, and despite its slower processor, can play movies and most games with ease. This of course, excludes insaniquarium with a full tank (too many fishes). |

#12 | | Guest | comments on poor sony support Thank you for the response. When I sent an email to Sony - pre-sales support, regarding where to buy (more like I wanted to feel the heft of the unit).. the zip code enabled search/url definitely points to several stores near where I work (and then where I live) that 'will carry and sell the sony product line'--NOT just the clie.
The stores do NOT have any Sony products. The stores do carry all the sony competitors. I went through a series (5) communiqués with sony support, indicating that the url was providing stores (near my home and work) that NO longer carry sony products, and yet Sony was still pointing to them.
I would get back an almost identical response saying... go to the sony url..... And enter your zip code for the nearest sony store.
Obviously no one at sony really reads.
The pre-sales support is truly horrible... Well I can just assume that this lack of support from sony is an indication that technical assistance from them would also be very poor.

| That you can't locate a store where Clies are sold is because Sony has stopped selling the Clie line in the USA, it only sells Clies in Japan. |

#14 | | Guest | yes i know sony has stopped selling clie Yes I know that. The point being that when you ask Sony where one can go and see one... they (SONY) point you to stores.. that of course do NOT sell sony products.
So if one went there expecting to see a refurbished device, or a device, or an over-stock.. what one actually finds are non-sony devices.
The sony pre-sales team.. probably automated response is incorrect.
My comment was that Sony pre-sales service is horrible... what can one expect after the purchase.
