| Battery life incredible I have to say that I am incredibly impressed with the TH55 battery. I played Warefare Inc last night for about 2 1/2 hours, then spent about 1 1/2 hours reading, and my battery was down to 91%. With the UX50 I have, playing Warefare Inc for that long would have just about drained the battery.

Good Evening-
The same thought occurred to me. This is the best battery life I have had on a PDA since my Palm Vx. It is definately the nest I have seen on a color screen device.

| I am sorry to say i disagree, the battery is good but in no way equivalent to that of the Vx.
It last me two days in general. I do a little wifi (20 to 30 minutes a day). A lot of pim, and solitaire. i only had it for 3 days now, so I'm still evaluating. |

| It's kind of hard to even do that comparison, considering the Vx doesn't even come close in terms of capabilities, you know?

| I read in an old review somewhere that the Vx lasted about 5.5 hours running Atom smash looped with backlight on. Just for comparison the TH-55 can: (According to manual)
1. Run 5.5 hours with LAN and backlight on.
2. Play 24.5 hours worth of audio.
3. Play 4 hours of video with the backlight on.
4. 15 days of PIM use without a charge.
TH-55 absolutely has the better battery life. Vx is older technology so it's really isn't fair to compare the two devces.
Just MO. I find that the battery absolutely rocks on the TH-55. I just hope that it holds this type of charge for quite some time. My initial charge was probably 8 hours, so maybe this will help out some. |

If that is all you're getting from your Clie, then you may have a bad battery or something. I used mine for about 4 hours today with various tasks, and it is down to 88%. I've also noticed that it seems to slowly recharge on it's own a few % when it is turned off.
PS: This is post #500........

| Unless Sony developed some sort of top-secret hidden solar/heat recharging cells or something, I don't see how the battery could recharge when not in use. |

#10 | | Guest | You can also see a similar change in battery % when you drop the screen to around 50%. Probably just a change in current draw that causes this. The self charging batteries won't be out until the OS6 cobalt clies are released.

BatteryTime v1.81 gave results of 4:29 down to 10%. The battery did bounce back 30-35%.
Here is the plot of TH55 vs T665C vs TJ25 vs SJ20. http://www.1src.com/forums/attachme...ntid=2419&stc=1 (TH55_T665C_TJ25_SJ20_battery_revA.JPG)
BatteryTime results fall between PalmVx at 4:39, UX50 (no bluetooth) at 4:30 and Clie T615 at 4:24.
Long battery on time, long battery charge time. I will take it.

| I'm holding off on the TH55 right now to see if Sony comes out with an equivalent model that has Bluetooth and not WiFi or both. I think I'm going to wait until OS6 comes out on a Clie.

#14 | | Guest | My experience with the battery life has been great as well. I flew coast to coast Sunday night with about 30 minutes of wifi at the airport followed by approximately 5:30 hours of pim, ebook reading and file managment and setup activities. When I finished for the day it still showed at 58% available. Absolutely incredible. BTW the backlight was set at about 50% which is very sufficient for my eyes.

| The battery life on this thing is so much better than any othe rhandheld I have owned.
For those wondering how the battery "recharges" itself - if I remember this correctly - the battery guage on a Palm is not really a dirrect measure of the juice that's really left in it. It's more a measure of how much you have left if you keep using it the way you are. If you are using battery intensive apps, then go to the launcher you will probably see it at a lower % then when you turn it on later just to read a memo and you turn the back light down. I could be mistaken, but I think this is what I remember hearing from my days back at VisorCentral.
