| NX70 Display Won't "Flip" I was using my NX earlier today in "turned style", and it was working just fine. I just tried to change it to "opened style" so that I could more easily use the keyboard, but the image on the screen will not flip over. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I tried a soft reset, but it didn't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

| back up your data and try a hard reset.. if the problem is still there then your nx70 is defective.. return it to the store if you have a warranty.. sorry

This also had happened to another user here recently.

| Did the hard reset solve their problem, or did they have to return their unit as well?

If you look closely, there is no contact and the screen flips before it's fully turned and could possibly make contact. It's the same for both the NR and NX.

Returned their unit. In the center hinge, there is a bunch of wires that go through it. It maybe repairable if you open up the hinge assembly, but that may void the warranty and whether you could actually fix it.

| Well, I won my NX70 on eBay so I'm at the mercy of the seller. If they decide to exchange it (I've had it for exactly 2 weeks as of today), then the problem is - hopefully - solved. If, on the other hand, the seller does not exchange it, then I'll have to fork over the bucks to Sony for a repair.
Sigh.
Thanks to everyone who responded.

| A very similar problem happened to me. Except it was the other way around. My NX screen wouldn't flip into tablet mode. Worked fine in keyboard mode. Hard resets did not fix it. Sony said they had never heard of the problem either. They sent me a box with a FedEx overnight label to their repair facility. I'll have to let you know how it works out. |

| Well, I got my NX back last night. It was a one week turn around time (although the weekend and MLK holiday slowed things down). They said they replaced a harness inside of it, but it still doesn't work. I called Sony again and their customer service was actually pretty good. He was very courteous and apologetic. They're sending out another box for me to send it back in. Yes, it's very frustrating, but what are you gonna do? Now, I'm really looking for a backup PDA. |

| Just an update:
I bit the bullet and returned the unit to Sony on 1/30/03 (I waited until I received a serial cradle for my backup PDA - a Handspring Visor Pro).
The repaired unit was returned on 2/4/03. I didn't have to pay for the repair(YAY! ) , and according to the invoice, a broken screw was replaced. |
