| Sound Utility and SMS application I want to use a .wav file as the alarm / alert for incoming SMS. I have tried using the Sound Converter 2 application on the desktop to import the file (13kb) and that has worked, i.e. the file is coverted and imported to my Clie. However, I can't seem to get the SMS application (hacked from UX?) to recognise any other sound except the damn default 'beep'. On checking the file type in Sound Utility it says that the 'beep' Alarm is an "SMF" file (which is a type of midi file), but others, which I can't seem to select as alarm sounds (including the tasteful "SingingBird" as well as the imported version of my Monty Python .wav) are "PCM". Now, I have managed to get all the PCM files to play as alarms in WA Clock, but not in SMS which only confuses me more.
So I have two questions:
1. Is this just a quirk in the SMS app? Has anyone managed to get any other sound to work as an alarm with the SMS app?
and, assuming I need PCM files...
2. Anyone have any idea how I can covert my .wav to "PCM"? I can't find any options in Sound Converter 2.
Thanks,

| Thanks Unregistered, but my problem is how do I get an imported sound to appear in the drop down list? That is, the drop down list only has one thing in it - the default 'beep' called (imaginitavely) "Alarm". I think that it's because of the file type, and I would like to know how to generate the correct file type and put it into the correct location.

| That was me posting "Unreg" I was leaving for work.
OK, the drop down list should show the same list of alarms that appear in the Sound Utility.
I have an NX80v, does the NX70 have this app?

| Yes the NX70 does have the Sound Utility, and no, all the sounds visible in Sound Utility are NOT visible in SMS applicatin drop down menu. That is the problem. The only one visible is the "Alarm" one. "Alarm" happens to be a PCM file (the others are not) and I think that mey be the only file type visible in the SMS drop down menu. Do you have other sounds available in the SMS app? If so, please check in Sound Utility under 'type' (drop down menu that defaults to "Size") and see what type they are. Then please let me know.
Thanks for trying to help.
