Unhappy No new Clie's in Switzerland !? Buhuuu :.-(

I repeatedely checked the sonystyle sites of germany, uk and switzerland. The TH55 (and the TJ37, 27) are all offered but in Switzerland!!

Even worse in Germany...

-the TJ25 and TJ35 are offered with a free leather-case!
-the UX50 is offered with a free extra-battery!

But not so on sonystyle.ch (Switzerland)

I then called the phone-nr to order by phone. They said, that the are not allowed to sell the th55 in switerland. The promotions, which are not showed in the swiss web-shop can be ordered by phone (if you know of them ;-)

PS: Maybe sony looks at switzerland as a third world country

Sony european policy is at least strange, i remember having made an euro price comparison for ux release, the prive would go from simple to double wheter u bought it in switzerland or scandinavia..announced euro price of 399€ is ok in germany, butin Frnace for instance it comes up at 449€...

You're right, this is really strange! I didn't compare with france but I remarked the different price in pounds in the united-kingdom? Maybe the price is calculated depending from the average sallaries within that country. I think car-prices are calculated like that.

PS: By the way, who is the guy on the photo you posted with your user-informations?

The UX-50 is the most recent Clié available in Sweden's shop on www.sonystyle-europe.com. It costs over $1300, no joke. They haven't lowered it since its introduction. I'm looking to buy a OS 6 UX when it arrives, and I'll order it from the US, since it too will likely be twice as expensive in Sweden.

Wow, so there are countries with even worse conditions!

I would't order in a country that far as usa is. I got my nx70v there and it has no problems since then (october 2002). But boy how glad I was to have bought my nz90 in switzerland, as it had to be send in to repair several times.

You must have a friend or relatives in usa for beeing able to register with an us-adress. without registering you have only 3 monts of warranty! Then if you send it in for repair you will have to pay about 70 usd for each direction (switzerland -> usa; usa -> switzerland)!!

PS: In my case its not so severe, as i live 15 minutes by car from the german border. I might get an th55 there and register it by a german friend. But I would have to pay custom-taxes at the german-swiss border. Also there is some adminstration concerning custom-handling when I would have to send it back for repair.

But to be honest, in the past, the european models showed up on the swiss sonystyle webpages a few weeks later then in uk or germany. I hope so.

I really don't think u have to pay taxes when brining it back from switzerland ; just open it at your friends' place, maybe leave the box there, and take the device cds and manual with ya, they won't be able to prove you just bought it ;

When i lived in strasbourg, i've been in basel many times for entertainment purposes and never been asked for anything when coming back to france ; actually i never broiught anything back also.

I think sony's warranty covers europe, and u may be able to register a german th at sony swistzerland ; this is also a solution i'd recommend for enfors, buy it from a german website

Thank you, yes I can see that you have been in basel and strasbourg. It behaves like that.

I might order at expansys.de they ship to switzerland. The last time I ordered at expansys they were last to get the units and shipped later than any other.
