I am still using my good old Palm Vx .... but it is now time to upgrade ...
So I am thinking of getting the TH55 ... big screen ... WLAN ... color ;-)
But I have one question: Does the TH55 has flash rom, so you can update/upgrade the OS of the device?
And did Sony ever release a update / upgrade for a Clie to a newer OS version?
The Palm Vx came with OS 3.1, I upgraded it to 3.5 and 4 now.
There were also some minor patches in between.

Sounds like me last June. I too was on a Vx at the time but I was considering the NX70 whose price had fallen notably by then.

The flash ROM on a Clie is quite pointless for the purpose of OS upgrade because Sony never provides upgrade. That's one for PalmOne since they have a track-record for providing them.
However, I decided on the Clie because I figured that most major OS revisions is going to require some major hardware change. For instance, from POS3.5 to POS4, the Vx hardly gained any new feature because the hardware was pretty old.
That's not to say there's no benefit to having flash ROM. With Brayder's JackFlash, any extra flash ROM is useable as extra storage. For instance, my US NX70 has 4Mb of free flash ROM which translated into 4Mb of extra storage for apps. The US NX73/80 had even more, on the order of 11Mb or so, IIRC.

Bye,

Minor patches are always loaded in RAM. Sony releases these too but they tend to be feature targeted. (E.g., game controller driver patch, WiFi driver patch etc)
