TJ35 is on its way back again

So I purchased the TJ35 on Oct. 27, 2003 and received it more than a week later (despite paying for overnight delivery) due to the wildfires in the San Diego area.

It worked flawlessly until I received the "recall e-mail" from Sony. Even though my unit was working perfectly I shipped it to Sony during the holidays and got it back three weeks later in not so perfect condition. Hold function did not work anymore and backcover was clearly bulging outward. So back to Sony again!!! This time gone for a week and now finally it will be back yoday, hopefully again in perfect condition.

I am very pissed at Sony however, that they have the guts to send my unit back with 2-day delivery instead of overnight. I know its only a day, but after the horrible service and product quality leaving me without a much needed organizer for a month, you would think that they would try to make your wait as short as possible. I find this simply unacceptable customer service!

Anyway, it better be perfect tonight.

I think 2 day instead of over night is perfectly reasonable, however I sympathize with your hardship.

My TJ35 arrived back from Sony for the second time yesterday and finally it WORKS!!!!

So this will be the my last post about the whole recall/repair thing.

One thing that struck me as very strange is that the "invoice" that accompanied my TJ35 claims the following:

NO FAULT FOUND, FUNCTIONAL CHECK

And yet I sent in a malfunctioning unit and got a functioning unit back (same unit, same serial#). Why would Sony claim that it was not broken, while they clearly did repair it???

I took my TJ35 into a Sony service center in Canada and received a new unit right away. Take the unit directly in, don't mail it, you may get a new one!

It seems like they don`t want to bother with repair.

I shipped mine, but also recieved a new unit, perhaps sony of canada isn't doing repairs.

My unit has been to the San Diego repair facility 4 times and has yet to be properly repaired or replaced. On 2 of the 4 occasions they claim "no problem found".

Sadly after the unit was returned from San Diego for the back light repair it had exceeded the 30 day return policy where I purchased it so I'm stuck trying to get Sony to repair it - as they REFUSE to replace it without the repair center seeing it first and the repair center does not seem willing to properly fix or to replace it.

To date my unit has been in transit or in San Diego nearly 1/4 of the time since I purchased it.
